RAIPUR: Activists of Hindu extremist organization attacked the Argentinean field hockey team following India’s 3-0 drubbing in their Hockey World League match, ARY News reports.

Argentina thrashed India 3-0 in the opening match of the World Hockey League being played at Raipur.

Gonzalo Peillat scored the first goal for the Argentinean side in the third minute and Joaquin Menini doubled the lead in the 24th minute.

Peillat put the final nail in the coffin by netting the third goal for the away side.

However, the win did not go down well with the activists of Shiv Sena who attacked the visiting team on their way to the hotel.

They pelted stones at the team bus.

Although no injuries were reported in the attack still the players were alarmed due to the incident.

Raipur: Three youths have been arrested in connection with the alleged stoning of a bus carrying Argentina's hockey team in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur where the Hockey World League (HWL) final is being hosted, police said. (Hockey World League: Argentina Hockey Team Bus Stoned in Raipur)

The accused identified as Rajnarayan Tiwari (31), Meghesh Sahu (24) and Govind Sahu (26), all natives of Santoshi Nagar area, were rounded up for their involvement in stoning of the bus, Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range, G P Singh said.

The incident took place on Friday late evening near Bhatagaon area when the bus carrying Argentina players was going to their hotel from the stadium, after the visitors thrashed India by 3-0 in the opening game of the event. During preliminary investigation, police said that a child hurled a stone at a stray animal which accidentally hit the bus leaving its window pane cracked.

However, further investigation revealed that the three youths, in an inebriated state, had pelted a cow with stone which deflected after hitting the animal and struck the bus, the IG said.

No one was hurt in the incident, he said. During interrogation, the trio confessed that they had thrown the stone at a cow which accidentally hit the bus, following which they ran from the spot fearing police action, Singh said.

A case has been registered against them based on the complaint of the bus driver, Dev Yadu, he said.

In the wake of the incident, the IG reviewed the security system in place for the players who have arrived from different nations to take part in the Hockey World League final, being hosted from November 27 to December 6 at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hockey Stadium here, and issued necessary instructions.

"Hockey India and International Hockey Federation have expressed their satisfaction over the security arrangements for the event," the senior police officer said.

The fact is that South Africa was debarred from playing International cricket from 1971-1991 because of its policy of apartheid. A similar ban should be in place against Pakistan for its export of terror worldwide. Their players can play in leagues around the world and make a living. Ireland or Afghanistan can easily replace Pakistan in ICC events. As it is - in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan barely managed to squeeze through into the Top 8. South Africa was readmitted to the ICC once it abolished apartheid. Once Pakistan drops terrorism as an instrument of state policy - it too can be welcomed into the fold. Till then, its isolation is completely justified.

I don't think the average Pakistani should suffer. Our projection of soft power must not be compromised. We should welcome their singers, actors, patients. I say even let their players play in the IPL. The message should be - We have a problem with the Nation-State of Pakistan, not with the people of Pakistan. Think of it as North Korea - how can we blame the North Korean people if they are ruled by that psycho Kim Jong Un?
