Muslims Lagging Behind than Others , Yes That's true . It happens IN every country that Minorities take time to Catch up . Afro-Americans Lag behind Other Americans . Asian Immigrants group lags behind than other groups in UK . And they are developed countries . So if you keep this parameter for a country being secular then every effing country will FAIL .

but why is that Indian Hindus are the highest income group in US/UK? with least unemployed, and mostly educated and credible people with least social offence? while population of Indians in US is 1% and in UK its 1.8%, who are mostly Hindus which is no less number for a migrant society? means, high number but still the richest and mostly educated Indian Hindus but the Pakistani and Bangladeshis on the very poor category in these same US/UK?

something more about the condition of South Asians in Britain, as below:

How Immigration Has Impoverished Britain: 75% of Pakistani and Bangladeshi Children “Live in Poverty"

Claims that immigration is economically beneficial for Britain have been destroyed by news that three-quarters of Pakistani and Bangladeshi children in the UK are being brought up in families that are living on poverty-level income.

The report, issued by Millennium Cohort Study, which is tracking children born between 2000 and 2002, has found that 73 per cent of the Pakistani and Bangladeshi seven-year olds were in families estimated to be living on less than 60 per cent of the average national household income.

Just over half of the black children (51 percent) in the Millennium cohort were in such low-income families, compared with one in four white (26 percent) and Indian (25percent) children, said an official press release.

“Predictably, low income was strongly linked to joblessness among parents, say researchers at the Institute of Education, University of London, who collected information from almost 14,000 families in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2008/9.”

According to the report, among fathers, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis had the highest unemployment rate (15 percent) – well above the UK average of 6 per cent. Unemployment among black fathers was also high (11 percent) but Indians were less likely to be unemployed (4 percent) than whites (5.5 percent) .

Almost two-thirds (64 percent) of white and Indian mothers had jobs, compared with half (52 percent) of black mothers and only 17 per cent of Pakistani and Bangladeshi mothers.

A much higher proportion of children in lone-parent families (63 percent) were living below the study’s poverty line than those with married (16percent) or cohabiting (30 percent) parents.

“The incidence of income poverty for the Millennium cohort families has not changed appreciably over the first seven years of the children’s lives,” says Professor Heather Joshi, the study’s director.

“Despite government efforts to eradicate child poverty almost three in 10 children are still in poor families at age 7. It’s particularly disappointing that around one in five seven-year-olds is in severe poverty – on incomes below half the national average.”

while Indians are among the richest in Britain itself and in highest/very high income group in US, with a high lead than others while it is no small community, around 1% in US and 1.8% in Britain. is it less for a migrant community?

According to a 2007 census report, there were as many as 2,765,815 persons of Indian origin living in the United states, constituting 0.9% of the total U.S. population. The median household income for US residents born in India is $91,195 against a $50,740 average for the total population, a recent US survey has revealed. According to the same report, the overall median household income for foreign- born and native US residents is $46,881 and $51,249 respectively.

Indian Americans: The fastest growing and the highest income group

Indians account for 22% of Britain’s ultra-rich club

Indians account for 22% of Britain

Good Question . Because only High educated Indian Hindus go there ( there are some exceptions ) . So they start on par with Americans . In case of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis most go as Taxi cab drivers , mill workers ( in 50's and 60's) so they dont start at par and it has a domino effect . Next generation either makes it or breaks it . If it breaks ( which happen in most of cases) then the whole scene goes downhill . Or do you think both Britishers and Americans are siding with Hindus in some Grand Conspiracies ??

Also when Migrants ( Indian Hindus) are able to make it then why not natives ( Afro amercians , mexicans , puerto ricans) who have lived for generation after generation are able to make it ?? Is it because their society is Biased towards immigrants :D :D ??

today I read an article of Amir Khan about "touchable and untouchable", and here I would ask, why is there any discrimination with backward cast in the country which is ruled by Backward Cast itself, who have history to vote for the leaders of their Cast only and have high reservation, and other scholarships etc? population of Hindu Backward Cast is around 85% in total Hindu population, then why is there any discrimination which couldnt be sorted out till now?" even since the time of Ms Indira Gandhi in 70s/80s, she made a Rule in India that all those girls who will marry with Schedule Cast will get all the benefits of reservation/scholarships etc of Schedule Cast, and also with other backward cast???????????

there is no law in India which make difference between people on the name of religion and backward cast are always given benefits, which includes Muslim backward cast like Ahmadis also. and about touchable and untouchable, no one can force me to touch any male or female including my family members also. I would touch only those I wish to, regardless someone is even my relative also. this type of wrong publicity will only force the creemy layer of forward cast to move to western countries, like how in US, creemy layer of Hindus, forward and backward casts both, have performed excellent to help US have high technologies? the Indians who are the richest in US and have around twice income to the locals of US itself? why dont we use the best talent of India in making high products in India itself and sell to US, in place of paying high price for those high tech products of US which were developed by Indian High Qualified professionals itself? why dont we try to make India who would be ruled by Ms Mayawati/Ms Jayalalita but we keep all those high talents who may help India have higher techs than US, those Indian origins who have helped US get those high techs?????????

foreign fund is behind this type of wrong publicity of India and Mr Amir Khan is being played on the hands of those traitor politicians who have high balance in their foreign accounts. a long time before, Mr Amir Khan wanted to become a director, if I remember, but later he refused as he then came to know, what it means? and soon he will get to know that there are many superstars in India who represents their Casts and have every minor points in relation to their vote bank, like Ms Mayawati for Dalits, Mr Mulayam/Lalu Yadav for Yadav, Mr Nitish Kumar for Kurmi, one for Jaat also, Ms Jayalalita for south indian backwards etc, and many others. he wants to do the things which he doesn't know, and the same he will do at the end like how he preferred not to become a Director..........

‘Even Shabana Azmi cannot escape religious bias in India’

The discrimination against Muslims in India is such that even famous celebrities including Shabana Azmi find it difficult to rent a flat in a posh area because of her religion, Professor Ram Puniyani, an educationist championing the cause to promote secular values, said on Friday.

“You can imagine what the rest of the poorest of the poor are going through. India’s Muslims, who make up 17 percent of the country’s population, are not only physically assaulted during riots, but they are also constantly marginalised and are living in ghettos since the 80s.”

The Indian scholar was addressing an audience at an event organised by the Pakistan Medical Association on the topic, “Challenges of Secularisation and Secularism: the Indian Experience”.

Puniyani is the general secretary of Centre for the Study of Society and Secularism, Mumbai. He is also affiliated with the All-India Secular Forum and ANHAD.

He has been writing on issues related to the human rights of the weaker sections of society: dalits, adivasis, women and religious minorities. He has authored nine books on the subject.

Communalism

Puniyani described communalism as politics done in the name of religion. “When we look at the moral injunctions of all the major faiths in the world, they overlap; but when you bring in identity and faith, then religion creates the basis for difference. Hence, it becomes a source of contention among people.”

He cited the example of Hindu fanatics, who claimed that Lord Ram was born exactly where Babri Masjid was situated. “The birth of Lord Ram is a myth; no documented evidence of his birth exists unlike the existence of other pioneers of religion. But Hindu fundamentalists had an axe to grind.”

Puniyani said Hindu fundamentalists went out on a killing spree based on a social hysteria, without contemplating common sense.

He said the prosecution of Christians on a regular basis in India has propelled a silent exodus of the community from the country, as the censuses from the 70s to the early 2000s showed a significant decrease in their numbers.

Puniyani was of the opinion that although the basic premise of the Indian state was based on democracy and secularism, but the forces of “Saffron Terror” were bent on destroying the values of democracy.

He noted that progressive activists in India today were working to remove the myths and misconceptions about the minorities.

“By conducting activities like interactive seminars and documentary screening, we are fighting the constant battle of bridging gaps between the communities. If we don’t do it, who will?”

Plundered wealth

Puniyani was also the guest speaker at a talk titled, “Secular Values in South Asia: Are there Lessons from the European Experience?” The event was organised at the University of Karachi’s Area Study Centre for Europe.

The general perception in India is that Hindus were enslaved for a thousand years, first by Muslims and then the British. However, Puniyani differed.

“The Muslim rulers never plundered the wealth of the sub-continent; they kept it within the land. The British on the other hand took revenue back to England,” he remarked.

During his talk, the Indian scholar compared the similarities between the clergy in Europe during and before Renaissance and the feudal mindset in South Asia that deters the existence of a secular system.

Rail, mail and jail

Rail, mail and jail were the three main things that the British developed in the sub-continent to smoothly run their empire, because he believed, this was only way they could “plunder” efficiently.

“From here, a new class of locals emerged: the elite business class, the working class and the educated middle class.”

The three new classes, he maintained, were the rising classes. “The old feudal class, i.e. Nawabs, Rajas, Sardars etc, had the same lavish lifestyles, yet they were losing power. This was the class that introduced religion into politics.”

The feudal lords, he believed, were the first to oppose the formation of the Congress. “They said it was against their religion. The Congress was the creation of the rising classes.”

The same, he said, happened in Europe during the Renaissance. “During the 14th Century in Europe, a mechanical clock was brought to a king who asked its maker, ‘Whose rule will the clock follow?’ The clockmaker replied, ‘The law of nature.’ Next, the clockmaker went to a bishop, who asked him a similar question and was given the same reply.” Neither the king, nor the bishop liked the answer. “So in the end, the clock was placed in the municipality.”

Puniyani said a system was developed in Europe to maintain the authority of the kings. “Obey the king because he is the son of God. To keep the king happy was to keep the clergy happy, and the clergy was the key to heaven.”

When, Galileo discovered that the earth was round, the church called him a heretic. In 1992, the Pope realised that Galileo was right and so he took away the edict. Now, according to the Church, Galileo could go to heaven. “This,” he said, “was exactly what the Fatwa is like. It must be obeyed. And this exists in India as well, they just wear different clothes.”

Benefits of secularisation

The professor maintained that there were three benefits of secularisation: liberation of self, liberation of women and liberation of society from the clergy.

During the question and answer session, he was asked if regional peace could help promote secularism, he answered in affirmative. “Fundamentalists on both sides of the border take food for thought from each other. When something happens in Pakistan, outfits like the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh get a reason to exist.”

Land reforms

At a separate event, Puniyani noted that land reforms were essential for secularism and democracy.

Delivering a lecture arranged by the Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research, Puniyani said the kings and priests were the ruling class in Europe before industrialisation. But later, a new class of industrialists and businessmen emerged and changed the political role of the ruling class.

The clergy and the feudal lords were asked to stay away from the affairs of the state. The clergy was asked to perform religious rites only, whereas the powers of the kings were curtailed. Feudal lords were even sent to the guillotine during the French Revolution.

“The feudal class has created a misconception about secularism that it opposes religion. In fact, secularism talks about liberty, equality and fraternity.”

He observed that secularism resulted in the abolition of feudalism in Europe. “But unfortunately, feudalism survived in the sub-continent and this resulted in the creation of two groups – right and left or the rising class and the declining class.”

He explained that the right supported religious forces. It projected its religion, but not its teachings. Puniyani said India and Pakistan should work together because their political developments affect each other.

there is no law in India which makes difference among people on the name of religion and any wrong practice against the laws bring punishment in India. from here, partition of India was based on religious ground and Hindu majority India preferred to remain a 'non-religious' nation while those Indian Muslims who wanted a Muslim Ruled country moved to Islamic Pakistan in 1947. after partition, Pakistan removed its minority, almost, but even if Hindus were around 88% to total population of India at the time of freedom in 1947, minorities grew in India. and it is a strong belief that only Hinduism can keep this much secularism in India, not a Muslims Rule like what has happened to minorities of Pakistan.

hence, there are many in India who argue that those Indian Muslims who wanted a Muslim Ruled country moved to Pakistan and those who think their grand parents/parents did a mistake for not going to Pakistan, may still fix their mistake and may still move to Pakistan, the main basis of Partition of India into India of Hindu majority and Islamic Pakistan

And you chuckle at that.Sure one can sense a hidden bias in ur chuckle.

Thats what Pakistan believed .you tell me what india believe?then we can think about some solution.

Have you ever moved in the interior UP/MP/Bihar or even orissa? Its one thing to write constitution and make laws its totally different ballgame to implement those. Can you assure me that after 65 yrs Indian constitution has been implemented in its all spirit in india?or it just remained an object of scholarly research and discussion.

It takes time. Where was America 65 years after its independence? Have YOU ever been to the "cow belt"? The change is there, its slowly and surely trickling in. We just had a bad batch of leaders and caste/religion politics, things are starting to look up now.

Tell me seriously do you ever had leaders in india of the caliber of Abraham Lincoln ,washington, roosevelt,Thomas Jefferson ?All India had opportunist dynastic leaders after LBS.Who think india as their fiefdom.

We don't need advice from traitors who change their loyalties as often as they change their flags.

Perhaps they would have been better off living as a Mohajir. They should still do that.

We owe such people nothing. Nothing at all.

I tell you conflict between India and Pakistan in few points as below:

1. dream of every pakistani and bangladeshi is just to get stick with India and are hopeful that they may get support from Indian Muslims and efforts of every Indian national, including politicians, is just to make them happy and put them aside. India just wants to solve this mess made on these two neighbors and make a distance from them while rulers of Pakistan and Bangladesh just want to get stick to India somehow as they live in a belief that they have already made a considerable level of damage to Pakistan/Bangladesh. in sum I may say, "Pakistan+Bangladesh may get all if they may get stick/united with India 'anyhow', and India may get all if it may successfully make a distance from these two troubling neighbors." but sometimes we find it hard to say this clearly on PDF, as, "we may change history but not geography. we may change friends but not neighbors."

2. India didn't want partition in 1947, it were British who divided India but even since 70s, Indian rulers had got an idea that damage had been made in that Pakistan+Bagladesh so even if India had full right on Kashmir also, (as explained in the link at the bottom), India preferred to have Simla Agreement but they never tried to get close to either Pakistan or Bangladesh with their valid claim on the Pak's Kashmir also ..........

3. partition of India was based on "Religious Ground" and only Sikhs had a right to claim for equal rights in India in 1947, similar to Hindus in, but neither Muslims nor Christians itself were in the position to demand for equal right in Hindu majority India in 1947, (like how Hindus+Sikhs were almost removed from Pakistan since 1947?, whole world knows?), as, "Religious Partition" of India was done between Hindu+Sikhs and Muslims that time. while the Christians were not part of that and also they were not targeted in Pakistan as Islamic Pakistan was infact a federation of Britain while India maintained its 'non-religious' stand, for what Mr Gandhi and his men fought for, who never let India discriminate with minorities, Mr Gandhi who himself named "Hey Ram" at the time of his death, whose belief was itself guided by Hinduism. they dreamed for a 'non-religious' India for whole British India in 1947 but tough attitude of Jinnah Saheb for a Muslim Ruled country, backed by Britain, resulted in partition in 1947.

4. but there is no chance of reverse that partition also, :disagree:, it had been accepted since the time of Ms Indira Gandhi itself who preferred to have Simla Agreement and live with whatever Kashmir India had till then, including other lands which India lost. Indian government and common Indians would only try to have a distance from Pakistan+Bangladesh. also, as India had the true nationalist leaders like Mr AK Azad so India had a valid reason to remain 'non-religious' country, otherwise India after 1947 was deserved to be a Hindu+Sikh religious country, but 88% Hindu majority was more meant for a "Hindu India" in 1947, similar to how even Western countries define themselves as Christian countries? even in Australia, we had holidays for Christmas only, not for any other religion? sometimes it is also argued that secularism of Hinduism is infact a weakness of India............ :hitwall:

4. and this is what I have said, partition of India was done in front of whole world and if there are still few Muslims in India who think that their grand parents/parents did a mistake for not going to Pakistan in 1947 then they may still fix that mistake. and why not, millions of Hindus+Sikhs had to move to India and Muslims to Pakistan in 1947, as religion was the main ground for partition? then why is there any hesitation to say it clearly that religious division of India had already been done in 1947, we just have to find out those who are not happy in India and kick them from India?????????

Problem of Kashmir has been discussed as below:

Jammu & Kashmir : Spineless India, Cunning Pakistan, Toothless UN

Despite of three all out wars between India and Pakistan only one in 1947 was fought by India to regain its own territory illegally occupied by invader Pakistan. On October 22, 1947 Pakistani army disguised as tribals and branded as Mujjahiddins invaded Jammu & Kashmir then an independent princely state ruled by Maharaja Hari Singh. The ruler of Kashmir, who on October 26, 1947 using the provisions of Indian Independence Act 1947 passed by the British Parliament merged his state with India. By virtue of the signed Instrument of Accession, the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir like other more than 500 princely states of pre-partition India became integral part of India.
