Why cant a Hindu be President ?
There's no such thing that a HINDU can't be a president... It's non-Muslim.

That's an old ancient law of a bad period of Pakistan's, it just hasn't been fixed yet.

.
By the people, of the people, for the people!

Thats a nice slogan but I still dont get it. What does "What people want doesn't happen" have to do with a democratic republic ?

That's an old ancient law of a bad period of Pakistan's, it just hasn't been fixed yet.

Fix it. Wake me up when you do.

There's no such thing that a HINDU can't be a president... It's non-Muslim.

A Hindu is non-Muslim.

.
And what exactly is your point?

Atleast seven million people crossed border in 1947 in both directions, we didn't try to stop anyone from coming or going. By far Pakistan was a muslim amjority state an it remained to be dominated by muslims.

How many non muslims left Pakistan after 1950? Give me figures before talking bs!
Thanks!

Neo,
What has people crossing over has to do anything with minorities status in Pakistan?
The point is about Pakistan commenting over secularism in India.

what was the population percentage on minorities couple of decades back and what is it now in Pakistan?
Can the minister explain why the the minority population which was around 17% in 1948 is now around 3% ? Why such a reduction?
Despite the so called "prosecution of Muslims" in India, there is a increase of population percentage of Muslims. They are almost around 15-18% of Indian population.

If the minister cannot see some reality back home,he has no right to comment on India.

.
If having a Sikh PM was a sign of India's multiculturalism, Sikhs wouldn't be up in arms in Punjab these days...

India's famous non-Hindus are mostly very much Hindu like. Lol Shahrukh Khan had some movie made or something, instead of having a Quran-khani, he holds a mohrat. :D Ridiculous.

How integrated are the regular Muslims who don't get the large sums of money that the Hindus give PMs and actors :D

.
That was thirty years ago by a corrupt leader.

Benazir and Nawaz where thrown out of country thirty years ago ?

It depends on the ability not the religion. Just like India.

I have just been told your constitution forbids a Hindu from becoming President. Should I conclude that you think a Hindu is less able than a Muslim ?

:what: It is a LAW!!! :hitwall:

:what: It is a LAW!!! :hitwall:

Which brings me to another question. Did the people of ancient Pakistan who made this ancient law that hasn't been fixed in these modern times think that a Hindu was somehow less able than a Muslim ? What was the logic ? Why didnt successive governments fix it for so long ?

And if 95% of Pakistani population is moderate why isn't anybody telling Musharraf to change the law yet ?

You mentioned 3% non muslims living in Pakistan, I gave a logic expalnation. Pakistan's population was less than 35 million in 1947, 3 or 4 million hindus emigrated and we got same amount of muslims back from India, now do the math.

Just getting the right to vote makes you Democratic? So many nations have elections...

A Hindu is non-Muslim.
It makes a difference, its the way you say it... It matters.

Fix it. Wake me up when you do.
What have you got to do with it? Last I checked we don't report to any Indian...

Oops I mean a non-Pakistani... Oh well an Indian is a non-Pakistani.

Its a long way to true moderation but Imho having a non muslim head of state is more of a secular issue than a moderate one.
Pakistan is not secular.

Benazir and Nawaz where thrown out of country thirty years ago ?

We are talking about majority here. Aren't we? It is well known why they were thrown out of the country.

I was reffering to the Bengal period. Bahini.

I have just been told your constitution forbids a Hindu from becoming President. Should I conclude that you think a Hindu is less able than a Muslim ?

I dont think it has anything to do with the religion. If Hindu cannot be the President that does means that he is less able to, since a Muslim in India and Pakistan is a President.

It's not 3%, That's an old statistic, its more like 6% which shows a 100% increase and numbers into a whopping: 10.2 Million people. (Assuming there are 170 million in Pakistan by now).

Muslims breed a lot too :P

Successive governments were Zia, BB, and NS and BB and then NS...

And plus you guys haven't been all that nice either to make such issues the priority ever since.

Neo,
I said 3% non-Muslims. That includes Hindus,Christians,Parsi,Sikhs etc.
I agree there is obvious increase in population of Pakistan. But then how can there be such a reduction of 16-17% in 48 to 3% now?
Don't you think there will some proportional growth as well? How come it is not there?

Population growth is not simple x+y math isn't it?

.
Just getting the right to vote makes you Democratic? So many nations have elections...

So what makes a country democratic ?

It makes a difference, its the way you say it... It matters.

It doesnt. In my perspective. The law was made to prevent a Hindu or Christian from becoming President.

What have you got to do with it? Last I checked we don't report to any Indian...

Wake me up when you change your constitution that allows a Hindu to become President and THEN claim that 'The minorities in Pakistan are given more rights than a regular person.'

Until then, stop lying.
