What's new

India is fast losing out to China's muscle

10-15 years ago we already saw Chinese products everywhere around the world, but even today I don't see many indian products anywhere. India doesn't really have a solid industrial base to make things happen.

That again is your perception.

Your secret sauce was export of goods, we have our own model of GDP growth.

It will be unique to us. I really don't see why it has to imitate china.

That's China's development rate, how can you be sure that India can do the same? You don't even have a industrial base to make it happen.

Because it has followed the historical trend.

In 1947 we were 10-15 years behind china, and even today we continue to be 10-15 years behind china.

In fact, now we are 11-12 years behind china.

Fact is Indian Growth rate is growing, chinese growth rate is slowing down. So if anything, our gap will reduce in the coming years.

You are saying that you will achieve at least the same development speed as China's and without indutiral base? Can you specify how you can make that happen?

Just ponder how is India grower faster than China in 2018 with no Industrial base and what would be the growth rate if India starts adding the Industrial base to the mix.

I have already mentioned it , you were not listening.

Indian Industrial base suffered because we were under US sanctions right from 1971. US LIFTED sanctions on you from 1971.

Today we are no longer under US sanctions so we have rebuilt our Industrial base, in quick time. Just look at all the things manufactures in INdia, from rocket ships to ships, to Automobiles to mobile phones to pharmaceuticals.

Where is the lack of Industrial base anymore ?

The gap in industrial base was Artificial and as soon as that artificial barrier was removed, India caught up.

You don't have infrastructure, manufacturing and comprehensive industrial capacity, just how can you make that hapen? Even China doesn't develop at all it will take 15 years for you to reach China's position now, but, only with the China's double digits rate for all those years. How can you make that happen while you're having nothing at hand now?

LOL have you checked the steel production rankings....who moved from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 in last few years? All the countries below India do not have an industrial base I presume?

I do not see why not.

Most of the manufacturing machines can be imported. Labour can be trained. Power can be generated.

What is so great and unique about "industrial capacity" when we are no longer under sanctions ?

The only place where china has advantage is cheaper logistics and that is our weakness for now.

. . .
That is the china model.

We will write the book on the Indian Model.

So far, if you look at the historical trend, you can be pretty sure we will catch up.
You can brag when it happens, now you are still one of the poorst and most underdeveloped places in the world.

LOL....so are you.

Your per capital income is still woefully behind the west. Even lower than the global average. So go easy on the bragging.
