What's new

India in talks to open ports, bases to US military

That being said you will agree to an extent Indian Foreign Policy has been quite good over past decades. We don't want to join american crusades and never will, however if they offer us some juicy platforms who are we to say no .

I've always said that India's foreign policy has always been good, which has greatly benefited the country. As for the weapons, you have the money, they will sell.

European countries under constant hostility with Russia.

Korea--> 60 years of war still continuing.
Ukraine--> so called orange revolution brought in Russia.
Afghanistan --> American and its ally pakistan are responsible for rise of Al-qaeda/taliban. No need to get into past american support for pakistan against India.

India is better of without any american bases/troops as I said earlier it will simply perpetuate the conflict. US will simply keep stoking India-Pak and India-China issues to stay relevant in the area. India is better of dealing things on their own. US and peace are poles apart.

We have not been on friendly terms with Russia for the last 800 years, so what else is new.

American troops has saved Europe vs both Nazis and Communists.
Especially the Baltic countries are real happy about having a big brother,
protecting vs Soviet/Russian war mongering.
In Ukraine, Russia crashed the party

The Korean War was started by North Korea, Russias ally.
The presence of Americans stops the war from growing hot.

In Afghanistan, the U.S. funded the resistance vs the Soviet and once they
were out, the U.S. basically left.
As part of the Afghan resistance, muslim volunteers from all over the world joined in,
and later created Al-Qaeda. That was their own idea.
To suggest that the U.S. created Al-Qaeda is ridiculous.

The U.S. was long gone before the Taliban emerged.

If the Afhans had not harboured terrorists, they would have been left alone.

This should not go forward.
Never.

I am not saying this for an Russian angle, but this will simply put India into the NATO fold.
And that's a bad thing for " Republic of India " we strive for.

What the heck we do with it? Bomb Canada or Mexico or North Korea or whom ?
We have " ZERO BENEFITS " from this .

Getting access is a big thing.
US getting access to our bases, do they bomb SL, BD, or nepal?

It would only be a one-way street. I can guarantee that.

You are wrong.

You are wrong.

They can do whatever they want. Not only bombing off SL or Any other. Why?Because they have assets to do anything they want. Leave this.

List " ONE BENEFIT " which India gets.
Don't list technology, we pay for it. Its not free.

Indian is not Taiwan. Taiwanese need American protection. Taiwanese cannot move an inch without America. It is better served if Taiwanese either become an American state or join China. Being an independent country without protection is impossible. Your mentality of the need for protection stems from this. Being Taiwanese. So sod off and be a Chinese citizen or American. There is no such thing as being Taiwanese.

We are also allowed to come up with conspiracy theories :P

This thread is aboutIndia negotiating with US to allow US stationing troops there. It's not about Taiwan.

Money is just the facade? The real value of US sharing the tech is for India providing the bases. Before you know it, US troops will station in India.

Thats were you are wrong!! Its a negotiation wherein each party has access to each other's port.

In name, India will have a port in the US. In practice,Indian navy will make periodic visits. US will station troops and equipment in India permanently.

Even many of your countrymen recognize that reality. You should as well.

So which colony do you choose to be? American or Chinese?

I think India will sign up those agreements though not in its current form & not in a hurry. It'd be a gradual process.

For two reasons , the Chinese have opened their cards - the CPEC , OBOR MSR aka String of Pearls & laid it on the table.India fears being caught in a pincer between Pak & China. With little or no movement on the border issue vis a vis China , there seems little incentive for India to pursue the status quo .

Secondly , the Americans may have offered to share their state of the art arms & technology with India , subject to India coming on board vide these treaties , extracting its pound of flesh as it were .

This is about India allow US to base its military in India. No more, no less. So stop trolling and trying to change the subject.
