Come on dude, An Airport is a modern form of transportation so it should at the least have modern facilities, if not the looks. That airport had neither!! We can not expect tourism to rise if we don't have world class facilities at the entry points of the country!!

I, no where, was intending to run those Airports down but trying to point that when all the Tier 1 Airports are getting a face lift then it will not hurt if we start looking at giving face lifts to teir 2, tier 3 airports as well. More than giving facelift, it will give employment to the youth as well..

I wasn't against modern facilities. I only saw pictures of the exterior & comments on it. I have no idea how a facade gives anyone modern facilities, those will be available inside. The facade is simply the presentation done in the manner that should best suit local taste.

Btw, I have seen many Indian airports. Most look like large Industrial sheds which while functional, adds nothing as a visual treat to any foreigner who have seen thousands of such buildings themselves.

where you got these hilarious figures  because these airports are in 25-40million passengers per annum category, so you basically claiming max. of $1.5-2 or 80-110 rupees per passenger. :omghaha::rofl::lol: who's the idiot here :pop:

:P..........Total passengers using Hyderabad airport was 8,444,431 and the user charges per passengers were Rs. 340, so the revenue earned was 53 million $ ................:pop:

Looks like a heavy mix of ignorance and wishful thinking to me ...:omghaha:

When you build a bridge over a river you do not expect to get the entire cost of building it from the toll. Every single rupee invested gets multiplied every time the bridge supports any economic activity. So, if people find it easy to do business in a city because of presence of an airport, that should count as a revenue generated by the airport. Not every economic benefit is going to be tangible.

Hyderabad already had a airport genius ...............so did Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi. They were not swanky ....but they did their job.

No additional economic benefit has come the to common man from spending 35 billion $............. Congress spent 11 Billion $ (US$10.92 billion as per Business Today) on the common wealth games .........what was the ROI on that ?

You are a blooming idiot, one of the biggest revennue generation for airports are cargo movement, exports and imports, sales and services provided at and around the complex, interconnecting facility provided to airlines.

You seem to be a false flagger.

Lemme explain to all the trolls why these airports are crucial to India in points:
1. Boost the image of India to the incoming tourists
2. Massive boost to hotel industry
3. 5 km sq of area around the airport becomes high value and many new developments like malls, hospitals, residential, business and economic centres etc etc come naturally
4. india is today building 13 metro systems all over so interconnecting them will top class airports makes total sence.
5. India is a growing economy and is expected to have 3rd largest industry and passengers by 2015.
6. Thee buildings boost business confidence and act as a catalyst to growth in the region

Soo keep building them and don't listen to people like Icewolf.

1. India is a country with per capital income of $1,455 per Annum i.e an average Indian income is Rs. 6,400 per month. No amount of make up is going to cover that ugly fact. This image is visible to every tourist who steps out of their Airports and hotel.

2. All the cities mentioned here already had Airports ......no additional boost to hotel Industry has come from building NEW Airbports when old Airports were doing fine. In fact older hotels that were located at the old Airport are now running at a loss.

3. This also means the value of area around old airport decreases. Property prices would have increased even if they had built new roads, schools, hospitals, sewage and water supply. In fact the property prices would have increased much much more and would have benefited millions more rather than land sharks who purchased property around the airport.

4. Metro could very well be connected to the old airport as well. In fact in such a scenario the cost of Metro would have been reduced by 50% and would have benefited more people.

5. Most of these passengers travel by Train and Bus...and that will remain for the next 20 years.

6. Business confidence is boosted by clear fiscal responsibility so that agencies do not give Junk status to our economy. In case you did not know ...we are dangerously close to that.

LOLLLLL,

you are not only an idiot but I think you are a communist or whatever they call the idiots who oppose change.

pick up some economics books and read up on why countries spend on infrastructure. You are like our Pakistani brothers here who say "The moon and mars mission are useless and a waste of money, that is why we dont have a space program".

That was in response to his earlier claim that elites pay for the airports you fool.

Anyway what is the revenue generated by cargo movement in airports ? 95% of all cargos in India gets moved by Rail and Trucks. International cargo gets moved by ships and ports.

BTW Foreign airlines carry a whopping 82 per cent of India's air cargo traffic. Higher user charges for Airports is one of the reason most Indian Airline are running at a loss.

.....as to the false flagger claim ... ...whatever makes you feel good kiddo. :P

Looks like you work in TCS  ....

By your estimate how many people get employment by building a New Swanky airport ?
How many people got employment by using the old airport ? What was the increase in employment after making the same airport swanky ?

For that additional 35 billion $ spent, what kinds of jobs were created ? how many jobs were created ? Do you know how many crores 35 billion $ is ?

Please answer these questions.

Answer this question first genius:

1. Give me a link that says that 3 airports cost 35 billion USD. While the new Mumbai Airport alone was around 2 billion USD.
2. How much do you think will be paid by the GOI??? There are several private local and foreign investors as well.
3. Do you know about the importance of such infrastructure? I guess no. +100 Billion USD will make India much more attractive to all kind of investors from around the globe who will thus invest in this country. And this does not only count for the aviation/airport/airlines industry.

Yes, basic infrastructure is needed as well and the GOI is building it! It cannot just allocate all its resources to this without improving the economic situation. A country needs a strong economy first.

Besides, building basic infrastructure is the job of the state governments anyway. Healthcare, education are primarily state matters.

And a government never pays the full price, there are always private investors as well.

Have you been to an airport in your life Dumbf@@k, or have you any idea what happens in and around airports of major metropolises? do you have any freakin idea of the cargo handling that happens at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore etc? I'll give u a small e.g. - millions of $ worth of fruits and flowers get loaded everyday at these airports.

Do you know the amount of daily flights that passes through Mumbai or Delhi?

I called u a false flagger because you are too stupid to be an Indian.

If this money to build airports was invested in roads, sewage, infrastructure, who knows, India could have the top 5 living conditions.

Alas,...

These airports look like a shining gem in a sea of darkness.

+100 billion USD will be spent on infrastructure by the national government alone in the next 5 years.... :coffee:

Well this thread isnt about Pakistan but Pakistan, even though having average airports, has better infrastructure than India, so....

Big LOL....

+100 billion USD will be spent on infrastructure by the national government alone in the next 5 years.... :coffee:

Yes, and the money will come out of a unicorn's ***...
Be honest, probably only $5 billion is gonna be spent... I remember few months ago Indian govt was boasting they would spend $1 trillion on infrastructure... we can already see what happened.

Our motorways are best in South Asia... Can you even drive without running over a cow in India?

$90 billion project... Oh dear... Lol! India cant afford a 90 billion project, dumbo

Islamabad looks the best in whole South Asia...

You Indians keep pointing out your airports, while the world keeps pointing out your roads, sewage, infrastructure, than you guys get ashamed

Only things indians like you can boast is airports dude...

Check this out.... http://www.defence.pk/forums/genera...ng-but-still-long-way-go-356.html#post4028478

And we will spend +100 billion USD on infrastructure over the coming 5 yrs. A part of it is invested by private firms form inside and outside India.

Saying that your airports are the best.... just shows your state of delusion.
