I thought south of lake was something india claimed. If china already has north and india partially has south it means china have gained some position.

China claims up to Finger 2 both North of the lake as well as South of the lake.

India claims up to Finger 8 either side.

In North of the lake Chinese and Indians are sitting on Finger 4..cutting off Indian advance from Finger 4 to Finger 8.

In South of the lake ..Indians captured heights right up to Finger 8(were a straight line be drawn across the lake from Finger 8 on the north side).

Surrounding entire Chushul bowl ..not only capturing what China claimed as its own but even capturing area beyond India's max claim line ..at least on 7 points.

Take a good look at this map. China claims upto finger 4 and India claims upto finger 8. We're at finger 4.

Indians have made another mistake. They have proven the LAC is a give and take line, and there is no offical permanent boundry !!!!!
