Well the streets do require a lot of effort to improve, else the cityscapes in India are great. Kochi otoh is better than the likes of Delhi and Mumbai by every margin.
Citizens in general keep good accountability of the center's working.

But when it comes to Municipal works, we ignore them. And mind it a lot of funds go in there. If efficiency is improved, then problems will be solved.

The budget of Mumbai local body is good enough to build under ground floor banks/storage in 4-5 years . That will ensure that excessive rains don't flood the lands.

A lot of cities in Europe and Japan have this system. But alas.

Mumbai is super dense and over populated, in that sense Navi Mumbai is a lot better. Planned city, not so crowdy and amongst the cleanest in India.

Still uniform 2 child policy should be put up. We are 130+ when we should not have been more than like 70-75.
Something to ponder - your figures in India are worse than that of Bangladesh now. Even with far less expenditure in healthcare and education. Just saying.

Don't know how it jives with the common Hindutva trope, "Muslims breed like rabbits...."

This is a tree very common in the US suburban areas and comes in many shades and colors. They are called "Crepe Myrtle". Some varieties are smaller and some are quite resistant to temperature and humidity.
