I'm thinking whynot divvy up and auction commie block type neighborhoods in mega cities to developers to re-do entire 'hoods and un-lock hidden value.

The logic is that in their time, said 'hoods served the purpose of housing armies of govt. and public sector workers. In doing so, surrounding and adjoining lands developed garishly while the well laid out govt. type housing amplified in modesty. All the low rise 'quarters' are now sitting on prime land. Time to cash-in.

These projects will never materialize if our economy remains in a piss poor state. India needs >8% growth rate for the next 20 years to fully upgrade its infrastructure. Actually both go hand in hand. Poor infrastructure is a bottleneck for India's economy.

Well, it's under construction, is it not?
