India China Border Dispute

2 year old thread. Lot has been changed since then. anyways....

India and China should accept status quo and China should stay away from P O K for better relations with India.

As far as Dalai lama is concerned - He is harmless to China. Also we cannot and should not expel the Tibetians from India. GOI should accept them as Indians and the case is solved

There is no South Tibet.
It is Arunachal Pradesh and it is an integral part of India.

That is fact
and it will not change depending on who makes claims on it.

Arunachal will always be a part of India, not Tibet not China.

There is no Askai China but Xinjiang !

Are you a mole in the Army HQ of India that you know what the Indian Army is expecting or are you giving way to fantasies that excite you into a masochist frenzy.

It is obvious that you are clueless about military operational art.

Are you aware of the principles that prompts an airborne assault of any dimension?

Get to understand that and then dream your fantasies.

India has correctly assessed their threat and raising their 4th striking corps in NE india.

airborne assault will be obviously launched as part of major chinese offensive or a link up operation.

india is setting up of a Mountain Strike Corps { 71 & 56 division } and two Independent Brigades along the China border.

india will build roads that can sustain the harsh weather in these terrain right up to the Indo-China border and connect important formation headquarters in the high-altitude areas of Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh.

Now the Tezpur-based 4 Corps will look after the Kameng sector in western Arunachal Pradesh with the deployment of three Mountain Divisions.
The Army Corps based in Rangapahar will now be in charge of eastern Arunachal Pradesh and will have three Mountain Divisions operating under it.

A full squadron of Sukhoi-30 warplanes have been deployed at Assam's Tezpur air base, while another squadron is expected to be brought to Upper Assam base of Chabua by the end of the year.

The upgradation is going on in the part of the Modernisation of Air Field Infrastructure project and included airfields in Bagdogra, Panagarh, Tezpur, Chabua, Saluwa and Guwahati. It also included improvement to eight advanced landing grounds in the region.

Yea, India is upgrading all its defense in NE.
Its better to safe than sorry.

It is not in the interest of either country to fight a war over territorial dispute. We need more trade and commerce with China. The Chinese markets should allow greater access to our products. Through trade and commerce will come growth and prosperity. If Pakistan does not facilitate transit of Central Asian gas and oil, why not try to attempt accessing it through China? Likewise for the access to Kazakhstan and other CA nations through China?

All this is in India's interests. All this is possible only if and when the border issues are resolved as the border disputes are casting a long shadow on the entire gamut of Sino-Indian relations.

So how do we resolve the border issues? It is a fact that India can't take back territory under Chinese occupation by use of force. Neither can the Chinese take back the territory with us and to which they claim. We can forget setting foot on Aksai Chin ever again. Likewise, if the Chinese attempt to capture Tawang, the resultant war will engulf most of Asia including Indian Ocean countries and may very well end in a nuclear exchange.

In view of the above, will it not be wise to keep our ultra nationalistic rhetoric of 'not letting even an inch of our land to go to the enemy' on the back burner for a while. The fact is that Indian land in under occupation of China and we can't get it back by force. Will it not be prudent to accept an overall compromise package as was enunciated by the thread starter? We keep the eastern sector and try and get some concessions in the western sector.

Perpetuating the border dispute is in no one's interests. Maintaining status quo can not go on for ever. Politicians are content to let matters continue as they are without seeking a lasting solution. They are only interested in lasting the full 5 years once in power. It is we, the people who have to ask for a lasting solution since it is in our interests and that of our children.

india is well aware of the vulnerability of siliguri corridor and improving its security.

That status quo is best as it gives a reason for raising the military budget and buying all the new shining toys. No bogeyman in the north means no pressure to send more money to the military-industrial complex. Think of all the jobs lost! And of course the kickbacks are sweet.

If one wants access to Central Asia the easiest way is through Iran where we have built the Chahbahar port.

However......

How is it vulnerable?

It is vulnerable if BD and Nepal collude with China.

Otherwise, it is not!

If you are a Tibetian, will you give land to India? Will that benefit them?

Come on, please be realistic! This is the real world. Dalai had to focus his target on China. India is offering him shelter and he can now do is to please India.

For China, losing Tibet is a great deal to them. Tibet had been under China's influence for hundred of years. I do understand Tibetian wish for independence but the history for them with China is too complicated to make it come true.

Indian can do whatever they can to keep South Tibet. China will do whatever it can do get back South Tibet.

China understands India point and will do her own ways to achieve it. Of course, China will never go to war with India due to South Tibet. The implication is too great to do that. Perhaps the best way now is to keep the status quo. South Tibet (AP) is a disputed zone!

if u take d opinion of the people arunachalis want 2 remain with india... (just putting d view of the people)

Is that why there is so many Armed People's Rebellion? Could India's lack of historical and ancestral claims be the source of the problem? Is that why so many "Indian" Mongoloids are extremely Anti-Hindu and Anti-Indian?

I've given wise advise before, but I will repeat it again: Don't get too greedy or you'll risk losing everything!

ur comment are ignorant, plz visit here and see for urself, i am a mongoloid and i am nt anti- hindu( i am a hindu) neither anti-indian, d militants here were formd because they were frustratd with d underdevelopment of the region, its got nothng 2 do with religion or nationality.. It was only later dat dis militants deviatd 4rm der actual objectives, they did d mistake of killing d same people whom they proclaim 2 represent, as a result majority of d people now don't support them and violence has substantially decreased in d last 2 yrs and many militant groups hav given up arms nw.. No one should comment anythng against any region and its people without having any experience of visiting it...

if it is well known that arms r coming from Nepal an Bangladesh then what BSF and RAW is doing ??

Is border fencing around Bangladesh not effective ?

Or corrupted indian BSF and govt officials r bribed and allowing illegal arms coming from these countries !!
