India cannot always be at odds with Pakistan

Contradiction. So India has a good name hence Pakistanis pass off as Indians. Sweden has a good name too but Pakistanis can not pass off as Swedes hence there must be some similarity between Indians and Pakistanis. does not mean we are the SAME (as it makes some skins crawl here), but the similarities is a possible avenue for buliding better relations.

Fair enough.

To that extent I see no point in what people who deny the similarities for ego or insecurity purposes say.

Contradiction? Not at all. Pakistanis don't really care if India has a good name or not, we have more important things to worry about. Pakistanis only use your name in the West because only in the West you are "mahan" due to vested interest of the West in India. With your argument one can say Israel is the beacon of human rights

Come to think of it.... you're Indian, so that may be true according to your demented views

Dude you are highly misguided, you said only Punjabis and Sindhis matter to Pakistan, buddy for your information 30 % of our military is pushtun, around 28-30 % of poppulation is Pushtun (Punjabis are 45%, Sindhis are 15-20 %) Infact today the Kashmir which Pakistan has, was captured by Pushtun tribesmen who fought against the Indian Army and liberated it...they are considered second line of defence after the Army for Pakistan...infact they even fight the Taliban along side Pak Army...so this is utter non sense which you claimed. and btw there are around 32 regional languages within Pakistan.

Another thing which you should know is that Pak's punjab unlike Indian Punjab (which mostly has Punjabi people) is different and is rather a melting pot of cultures evident from the fact that the current ruling elite of Punjab is Kashmiri (although Kashmiris of Punjab speak fluent Punjabi but considering that all Indian Punjabis and Kashmiri Punjabis have same ancestors is pure stupidity. In the north we have Punjabi Pathans (Mianwali and in Attock)..they are ethnic pushtuns who consider them selves Punjabi..in the south we have saraekis and Baloch (Lagharis, Mazaris in South Punjab).

The most important of all, there are various tribes like Sherazis (from Sheraz, Iran), Gardezis (from Gardez, Afghanistan), Gilanis (Gilan, Iran) etc. Just read wikipedia on Punjabi people
Punjabi people - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and they will show the names of families in Pak Punjab who claim decent from other people, along with native punjabis like Gujjars , Rajputs etc.

Punjab unlike any other province of Pakistan, is made up of 2 persian words (Punj meaning Five and Ab meaning water...ie the land of five rivers, there is no ethnicity such as Punjabi which is evident in Sindh for Sindhis or Blauchistan for Baluchis ...etc. It was a fertile land where millions of people settled throughout the previous thousands of years.
