India building 6 airports in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has prepared a draft master plan for the Greenfield Airport at Holongi near Itanagar, Union civil aviation minister Ajit Singh said.

The master plan was prepared following the acceptance of the site for the construction of the airport by the state government in view of its technical suitability and operational safety, Singh said during a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Singh said the terrain of the new Holongi site permits operations on runway from both directions as compared to the Banderdewa site, which permits unidirectional operation. In this regard, AAI has forwarded the requirement of 320 hectare of land to the state government.

During the meeting, Singh and Tuki also discussed the status of the development of airports in Itanagar, Aalo, Daporijo, Pasighat, Tezu and Ziro in the state, sources said here on Thursday.

Regarding the development of a civil enclave at the aerodrome in Aalo, Tuki was informed that the AAI had sent a report to the state government in July last for the removal of obstacles around the aerodrome for safe flight operations.

The AAI has submitted the master plan to the state government and Indian Air Force (IAF) as the IAF has been mandated the development of the aerodrome, sources informed. Singh brought to the notice of the chief minister that the state government has to act urgently on acquiring the seven acres of land required for the development of the civil enclave.

Singh further informed that the AAI has finalized the master plan for Daporijo Airfield. The airfield has to be developed for ATR-42 (50-seater) type of aircraft operation. As per the master plan, an additional land of 34.2 acres has been requested from the state government by December 2010. An exercise to identify the obstacles that need to be removed from around the airfield was conducted, the report for which was sent to the state government in July last year.

The development of the Pasighat Aerodrome will be handed over to the IAF for development for both civil flights and defence use, Singh said, adding the formal lease agreement was yet to be signed. He said the quantum of available land that needed to be shared between IAF and AAI was being discussed and the revised master plan was sent to the IAF for finalization of lease agreement, sources said.

The status of work of Tezu Aerodrome was also discussed in the meeting. Singh informed that the work for upgrading and developing ATR-72 type of operation was in progress and AAI was working at extending and strengthening the runway, the sources added. Brahmos are for attack. I would like them to be defended by LR SAM.

In my opinion atlest not for another 15-20 yrs . The land earlier selected for building airport was in karsingsa and people gave their land for it but one of the most corupted MLA of aunachal called Likha Saya forced it to be transfer to holongi where 80% of its land belongs to him in his relatives name or people of his own clans , to get the compensation money . Now there legal fighting going on for place where the airport should build between people of karsingsa and holongi calling strike time to time! this is the sad state of one and only greenfield airport in arunachal to be yet build. Others are not actual airport but ALG (advance landing ground) and they are only inproving its capacity so it will be able to handle the jetfighter landing its in the hand of military so its progress is going in full speed till now. one of it is present in my own hometown itself, if it goes at this rate i thing the ALG will be ready by next years ending ready for chinese . It will be use by both civil as well as military.

Budget session of Arunachal Assembly begins

ITANAGAR, March 4 – The three-day Budget session of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly began with the Governor’s customary address to the members of the House amid protest staged by several organisations including political parties like BJP and PPA along the road leading to the Assembly in support of their respective demands.

In his address, Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma, while highlighting the achievements and developmental initiatives by the government, said during the 11th Five Year Plan Period (2007-12), the State has clocked an average growth rate of 9.4 per cent, well above the national rate of eight per cent. (Likewise), during the first year of Twelfth Five Year Plan i.e. 2012-13, our growth rate was 5.91 per cent vis-à-vis the national rate of 4.96 per cent.

“My government has in the last few years made remarkable progress in the developmental history of Arunachal Pradesh and chartered some of the hitherto unexplored areas of governance,” he said.

Noting that infrastructure in the form of road, rail, air and telecom connectivity was an imperative for development of any State, the Governor said, “My Government has made considerable progress and also laid the foundation for a robust infrastructural facility in the State”.

“Under the Prime Minister’s special economic package, which is estimated to be about Rs 33,000 crore, projects like 2319 Km road project including the two lane Trans-Arunachal Highway, district connectivity and the four-lane National Highway are under various stages of completion and the majority of these roads will be complete by June 2016,”he said.

He further divulged the State will have its first railway station at Naharlagun and trains are likely to be operational within this month.

The broad gauging of the Rangiya-Murkongselek stretch has progressed to 84 per cent and will be ready by December 2014. This will cater to our requirement in the eastern part of the State.

Air connectivity will also get a major fillip with work already started in ALGs at Ziro, Pasighat, Aalo, Mechukha and Tezu.

The Vijaynagar airfield is already operational and a Greenfield airport at Tawang is under active consideration by the Government of India.

He said rural connectivity under the PMGSY has also made considerable progress with 654 road projects of 3738.82 Km already completed, connecting 626 habitations by 2012-13. In 2013-14, 185.58 Km connecting 10 habitations have been completed.

On the law and order front, the Governor said considerable improvement is visible. “My Government has undertaken a lot of vertical and horizontal interventions in tackling the law and order scenario of the State. I am happy to inform that the ratio of cases registered to cases solved/ chargesheets filed has seen remarkable improvement.

Emphasis has also been given to women related crimes and accordingly, government has started the “All Women Police Station” in Itanagar. Fifteen new police stations have also been notified and will be made functional shortly.

Besides extending his best wishes for a successful conduct of the House proceedings, the Governor quoting Mahatma Gandhi told the members, “Whenever you are in doubt apply the following test: Recall the face of the poorest and weakest man you have seen and ask yourself if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him? Then you will see your doubt melting away”.
