India is expected to purchase these multi-barrel machine gun will be used for assembly of MI-17 helicopter and the” North Star “helicopter. Data for: Indian-made helicopter

Polaris World Wide Web intern reporter off Xiang reported, according to “Hindustan Times” reported on March 11, the Indian government has started the procurement of multi-barrel Gatling gun start bidding. Expected these guns will be used to assemble MI-17 helicopters and “North Star” helicopter.

reported that the Indian government has purchased six Gatling gun on the release of the quality requirements specification. This kind of machine gun now widely used by NATO forces. Gatling gun can be installed in the helicopter, enemy ground positions to launch devastating air raids, while it can protect the aircraft against attack from ground fire.

i think image shown is GAU-17/A Minigun by GE. India can buy straight from US or get manufacturing rights from them. I don't see US govt will have objection on this.
I remember Sylvester Stallone using one in Rambo...

M134's already acquired for testing and planned on being mounted on the Mi-17V5 and Dhruv's, pretty nice.Never seen a M134 mounted on a M-17 but I guess we will in a few days provided everything goes as planned.

Now this is AWESOME news!! Interesting that IAF has already got 6 such platforms, would be cool if we could get some pics. And what is the "North Star" helo?

the numbers needed are too small to be manufactured in India . thats why they are being imported.

We can manufacture everything if need be. But the ministers are on foreign payroll with huge lobbies. Tendering is the best way to hide behind the flimsy excuse of "best of the best" and continue satisfying foreign pockets with our money. I just don't trust our government anymore.

epic stuff. should be installed on all dhruvs . We need door guns!

Fine but come on man.. we make our own ballistic missiles. How difficult is it to make our own gatling guns? It is a shame that we have to "purchase" these.

I don't think a flexible option to mount or un-mount the gatling guns on all of Dhruvs or Mi-17s if needed is a small option in long term.

This is simply a false excuse to import further rather than make one on our own. I hate to say this but this is where I appreciate China. When they buy small quantity, they make sure they know how to make it en masse later if time requires it. We on the other hand, will still import it if this is what the government mindset is.

Iran is producing its own multi barrel machine guns. I wonder why Pakistan is unable to make one of its own?

Set up a company and see if your sales will pay for operating and manufacturing cost not to mention RnD. Its not rocket science but its not big orders.

You people just buy these expensive stuff for stale mate scenarios in kargil type wars. Amazing policy
