HSMC along with ST Microelectronics (France/Italy) and Silterra (Malaysia) will set up two manufacturing units each with capacity of producing 20,000 wafers per month. Of the two, the first will come up by 2017.

2. what will they actually manufacture?? ibm opensparc processors or another line of amd chips?? or no microprocessor at all??

no... but i am part of a project group which is designing a clock-less microprocessor which has entirely new design... and yes, it has no floating-point unit... and yes, operating system ( new ) and applications has a minimized used of mathematical operations.
