The fact that it is an ancient practice is not a valid point of discussion, and holds no importance whatsoever in the legal system. Many ancient practices have been banned by law - sati, untouchability, temple entry restrictions etc.

So instead of harping on the "3500 years" bit, explain why the SC was wrong in its judgement (if you think it was), on its own merit.

Jallikatu must be allowed to conduct under supervision of officials who make sure that the animals are not abused like putting chillipowder in eyes, giving alcohol etc.

If they make it a fair fight between a bull and a human, who do you think will win every time?

I dont understand what is wrong in it continuing it?The spanish bull fights kill the bulls, here they merely ride the bull, If rodeo is not hurting animals then jallikatu is not gonna hurt any animal either. Why two double standards? PETA and crusaders in overdrive to ban ancient indian traditions. While they turn other way when it comes to rodeos, bullfighting or bull races in pamplona spain.

Firstly, its not the Govt of India but the Supreme Court of India that has banned this sport. Someone felt aggrieved to see animals in this manner hence appealed. The court heard both sides & ruled.

There is room for appeal should anyone feel so.

Just because something is ancient it does not mean it must be allowed forever. Sati was an ancient custom which has been done away & is a crime.

Similarly, courts have ruled against use of animals in circuses .

Whats ' obnoxious ' about a court ruling that can be appealed against ?

This should be allowed under supervision if possible.

Ideally ..Yes.

In our context supervision is a relative word , a window for slipping through. There is no one who can Police the Police.
