No, they gave Paksitan weapons and money to distribute evenly to the Mujahideen, the CIA were not on the ground distributing weapons to Pashtun fighters who later become the Taliban. Pakistan gave the bulk of the money and Stingers to the groups who years later become the Taliban and they were situated within Pakistan and in Afghanistan close to your border. This simple yet crucial point in history must not be taught in Pakistani schools it seems.

US will withdraw troops for sure, but it will leave some around 10000 till the very end and will keep monitoring Afghanistan until they are sure it can survive on its own. One other thing can happen that they will have a permanent base in Afghanistan.

oh by the way i dont think anybody is disagreeing here about immediate vs. phased withdrawal.....in Iraq theatre there's still a presence of coalition troops, though a lot of the security responsibilies have been handed over to the Iraqi Army.

And the ex-CIA guy said that his breifing to Bush in 2002 on Iraq is why you saw the war on Iraq. India cannot and need not do it, Afghans are good themselves in defending there mother land, India is training there Army and They can withstand on there own against any aggression.. They have very less arms in there air inventory, It would be better If India could contribute from its side to make them self sustain in defending there home from the after attacks of Terrorist groups...

India would rather have America stay in Afghanistan for 100 years. Pakistan, Russia, China, and Iran want the U.S. to get out of Afghanistan and the region.

9/11 was a blessing for India. The US dragged Pakistan into a decade long war that brought terror and worst crisis in history to India's arch-rival that kept the arch-rival busy with its western border while India started to focus on building its economy.

Now U.S. will leave Afghanistan, and we can go back to what we were doing before 9/11/2001 that is why India is worried and they should be
