India is the weakest of the BRIC, but it's still doing better than Indonesia, Mexico, France and UK

thanks for the latest data

the weakest among brics in terms of manufacturing is south africa

India will soon be in the number 5 position and then the actual fight will begin.....as someone mentioned

chunk of the manufacturing is taken by automobile and pharmaceutical sectors...
where we lack is in electronics and heavy machinery!

India will go into top 3 from here within a short time.

We should be in top 3 . Other than that is shame . :)

Do not toe the line of China, we India do not need to become world's factory. We need a balanced and sustainable model which can maintain the GDP for decades.

Oh and China can't do that?

... china aint rich from the beginning... china is not developed country... you been in India position decades ago... Look at the Japan with tiny portion of china population and negligible land size they are having half of china manufacturing output ... ... You guys doing same mistakes once Japan did.. and trying to expand like Nazis... grow up... don't forget your history....

Sirji , Look at our infrastructure , do u really think we don't need to push for industries . These industry will not only create jobs but fill the massive infrastructure gap.

We seriously need rapid industrialization for next 30 years , to bring mass poverty to minimum level. We are not mid income economy hence we are not eligible of talking about sustained and balanced economy. We can think about all that once we reach to a stage were we are mid-income economy.

I am only saying we need a sustainable growth model.

New cities are coming up close to BIMARU where there are more human resources and they can produce goods at cheaper rates. These states will offer us advantage in the near future.

Who is going to run the cities? Non BIMARUs. They are a bane on India and reproduce when they know India cannot feed the 4 kids/family they push out. Population means nothing as technology expands to replace those most basic of jobs that they can only do.

Nice to day dream isn't it.

Indian industry lacks business and trade ethics.
Yup. Indians are too corrupt to ever be succesful.
