India-Afghan ties to deepen post-withdrawal of NATO troops: Envoy

As the withdrawal of NATO troops draws nearer, Afghanistan on Saturday said its “very steady” relationship with India is only going to deepen post-2014.

“As Afghanistan goes through a transition, I think that transition should also be a transition for the region in terms of policies, vision for one another,” Afghanistan Ambassador to India Shaida Abdali said.

He said Afghanistan’s relationship with India is “very steady” and New Delhi has no exit strategy in 2014 and beyond. “So, this is going to be a relationship that is going to deepen in future.”

Asked about the situation of minorities in Afghanistan, especially Hindus and Sikhs, Abdali said “Afghanistan will only be complete as a nation if it has all segments of its society including Sikhs and Hindus.”

“Unfortunately, in the last few years, more in the Taliban-era, Sikhs and Hindus left… We know why they left. That was not an Afghan-represented government that could protect them,” he said while addressing journalists at the Press Club of India here.

Abdali pointed out that a seat each in Parliament was now reserved for Sikhs and Hindus and it was an example of how much the Afghanistan government and people respected Afghan Sikhs and Hindus.

“We hope that we will have the return of all Sikhs and Hindus to Afghanistan, that will be the completion of our Afghan society,” he said.

I agree, post America Karzai India relationship would improve. The only question would be will Karzai be in Kabul or in New Delhi on asylum.

Karzai is presently called the "Mayer of Kabul" when Americans are in Afghanistan. It would be worth thinking how wide Karzai's government would be in when Americans are gone. :coffee:

Sir. I can see that last time you got updated on the war in Afghanistan was back in 2011/12, when there was a mass hysteria about the capabilities of ANA and the governments reach of power.
Let me give you an updated view of the situation.

The 2013 fighting season has now ended, ANA fought this fighting season with minimal support from ISAF, and the so called major Taliban offensive they warned about before the fightings was completely destroyed.ANA crushed any resistance Taliban could come up with, and broke their backbone in several strategic important areas.ANA captured enemy land, and hold it, and is still holding it.Although ANA suffered a lot when it comes to personal.
The Taliban is almost broke, and several talk have been hold between important enemy leaders, discussing peace, because as they said "we don't have the power to win"Several ANA commanders have said that if peace talks with the enemy fails, they will be able to crush the Taliban before 2016, and making them an incapable militia, without controlled areas in Afghanistan. So the post 2014 government and afghan law will rule all important parts of Afghanistan after 2014.

I wish your stance was true but if it had been the case, USA must had good reasons to stay because defense and offense jobs were being taken over by ANA and it could finally set its stage against Iran which unfortunately is not coming true. Till today, dialogue situation with Afghan Taliban is that Taliban are persistent on their condition of talks that Americans leave Afghanistan first. If ANA had hurt Taliban to this level as you mention, Taliban must had been eager to deal with USA and negotiate a territorial control by giving some leverage and receiving some in return - which - unfortunately is again untrue.

Split between ANA and Americans is evident from the fact that ANA soldiers have been killing Americans mercilessly to the day until USA completely stopped their training and joint operations with them. ANA with American support wasn't able to pull a mention-able victory when it had all support, equipment and backing of USA on their side. Now you want me to believe that in the absence of all that, ANA is stronger than itself and its American coalition together? God knows better but facts state all otherwise.

I strongly believe in a stable Afghanistan but before that, I believe a non-hostile Afghanistan. Because of having an Indian friendly regime there, we have seen more than enough. It is time when ask our due and make sure Afghanistan is ruled by its representatives but non-influenced and non-hostile towards Pakistan. If Karzai turns out to be that guy, it will receive the backing - but - until today, it is not him and I don't see him staying in power another year after 2014 no matter how deep it develops its ties with India. But - Allah knows the best.

Your arguments are outdated. The US trains, assist and advice the ANA, and they haven't pulled back this strategy. By the why almost all insider attacks are eliminated by now, but it happens from time to time.ANA success is due to that they are Afghans, many small armed groups have given up their fight, because they see, that it is the ANA they are fighting, these things has made Taliban isolated and weak.It is a fact that Taliban leaders have discussing peace, because of their failure in the fighting season.Afghanistans foreign affairs will be what Afghans want, and for what is best for Afghanistan, and we don't care if or policy is hostile to Pakistan.
And remember this isn't the past, if Pakistan continues their meddling in our affairs, we will make life hard for you.

In that part of the World; which is non-explosives laden, that is inhabited by non-extremists and non-obscurantists only working to better their own existence.

Is this by any chance the same part of the world where the state sponsor of terrorism aka Modi, is the prime minister candidate?

Nice. Job well done.
