They suffer because their ancestors suffered and were kept backward and poor, dont tell me after 1947 everyone become equal. Only on paper but not economically.
The argument with affirmative action is that as it stands now, the upper crust of the Dalits, especially their politicians wield enormous clout in politics. Nothing wrong with that, but help shouldn't go to them.
My argument is financial assistance given to poor people, regardless of caste, religion. Many students who have shown to be brilliant no longer proceed to higher education.
In the end, many reformers from the lower castes dreamed of a casteless society, not a continuation of it.
Like Sree narayana Guru who was from the Ezhava caste in kerala, who envisioned a casteless society in the end.
Yeah that's why caste based reservation was embedded in our constitution back then and was expected to be removed in three-four decades but thanks to vote bank politics......
now even after 70 fuckin years of so much benefits or opportunities or whatever you can call it if some backward caste people are still economically backward that means either they are grossly incompetent or have gotten lazy and used to for receiving such beneficiaries
Excpet a lot of the people receiving assistance are from backward castes who are rich.
It should be given to people who actually need assistance regardless of caste.
Scholarships and other financial incentives for students who perform well from poor families. Concentration on building infrastructure and industries in areas marked with poverty
When you are rich, the penalties for being incompetent is much less.
Take a look at Rahul Gandhi. If he was from a poor family, he would have starved to death.
