It is one of our family temple (kuladev)

Skanda/kartikeya (known as murugan in TN) is presiding deity, and marks his becoming hermit to understand more about himself after his brother ganesh won the fruit from his parents for circumambulating them instead of the world (putting metaphysical meaning over the literal one, the latter one which murugan rushed off in doing)
