You know, I sometimes really wonder; why do we have such abysmal international tourist figures?

7 million per year! Singapore gets 8 million per year compared to us.

We have so much, so much to show the world, that it will take tourists at least 50 trips every year to India that too for months at a stretch to see and experience in order to complete the country's experiences.

If only we had developed our tourism policy earlier, we would be among the top 5 tourist destinations in the world.

I would prefer to have more domestic Internal tourism vis a vi International one. Imagine if we had higher number of foreign tourist and something happened to them, amount negative press coverage will go up many fold even though we have one of the lowest crime rate.

We have around 90 crore+ domestic tourism as noting their purpose is nearly impossible as so many people daily travel across the country.

But the real money and value addition comes from foreign tourists. Not just western ones but from all over the world.

We should allow greater air connectivity and promote medical and wellness tourism seriously.

Even today foreigners have a difficult time getting medical visa to India. Sometimes their situation cannot make them wait and therefore they go to Thailand and Singapore instead for medical treatment.

This is what should change.
