In the next decade China will loose its military and economic edge

ok, now you are using 'next decade' ```but what if China is much capable in next decade, would you use 'next next decade'```?

Not sure where you get that slave labor data, but India has exponentially more serious issues with slaves than China. Global Slavery Index ranks India as 5th worst in slavery index, and China stands at top of the tier at 109. Data clearly indicates Indian's slave labors vastly outnumber that of China's, 14 million vs. 3 million

Global Slavery Index - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://d3mj66ag90b5fy.cloudfront.ne...11/Global_Slavery_Index_2014_final_lowres.pdf

It's surprising even with number of indian slave labors 5 times that of china, Indian economy still lags far behind China's.

India already pays vastly lower wage than China, chinese wage is already at least 4 times higher than indian, not "unless" or "if", this is fact.

China is a closed door society. A country that bans internet and other forms of free speech can't be taken seriously on its claims. chinese claims are full of hot air with no basis in reality.

lol, the China you described must be in a parallel universe that only indians can 'access' ?
ban internet?
free speech?
no reality?:D are you sure not talking about N.korea instead of China? do you even have a slightest clue of what China is like, and daily things we do in reality not on your screen of propaganda?

China closed society?``lol, dont get me start with the experience I had in India```` and with all of those well-fed indians I came across in the UK

Greater China industrial cluster

China will not lose its edge.

People do not seem to realize that Taiwan is an important part of the Chinese economy.

For example, the entire Taiwanese computer notebook industry has migrated to China.

There is a steady flow of technology from Taiwan to China. Since Taiwan has a nominal per-capita GDP this year of $23,000 (according to the IMF) and will hit $30,000 within five years, China will follow in Taiwan's footstep.

To slow China down, you will have to destroy Taiwan. Taiwan currently has 137,867 cumulative USPTO patents, which is the third-largest foreign holder after Japan and Germany.

Also, Huawei broke into the Top 50 among USPTO patent grantees for last year. China is moving full speed ahead. Source: Huawei named a Top 50 U.S. patent recipient by IFI

Taiwan remains the world's third-largest foreign holder of 137,867 USPTO patents

For 2013, Taiwan remained the world's third-largest cumulative foreign holder of 137,867 USPTO (ie. U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) patents during the last 37 years. Essentially, Taiwan is out-innovating every other country on the planet except for the United States, Japan, and Germany. This would explain Taiwan's ever-increasing standard of living and foreign exchange reserves.

Patents By Country, State, and Year - All Patent Types (December 2013)

kdfJwtl.jpg

A. Taiwan's cumulative USPTO patents are clearly massive in terms of quantity. However, we have to examine the quality of the Taiwanese patents. This can be done indirectly and easily by mentioning ten large leading Taiwanese companies in diverse industries.

1. TSMC (or Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is the world leader in the foundry business with 50% worldwide market share. TSMC logic chip technology is currently being mass produced at a leading-edge 20nm.

2. Mediatek is a leading multi-billion dollar designer of systems-on-chip (SOC) for smartphones and tablets.

3. Quanta and Compal produce 80-90% of the world's notebook computers with Taiwanese patents.

4. AU Optronics is a leading LCD manufacturer. AU Optronics won a monstrous patent lawsuit against South Korea's LG where a U.S. Federal District Court ruled that LG infringed on four key AU Optronics patents.

5. Epistar is a leading LED manufacturer with 1,000 LED patents.

6. Formosa Plastics is a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals.

7. Taiwan is the world's fourth-largest machine tool exporter and has built a sub-micron CNC machine tool.

8. "Delta Electronics, Inc. (Chinese: 台達電子工業股份有限公司), founded in 1971, is the world's largest provider of switching power supplies and DC brushless fans,[1] as well as a major source for power management solutions, components, visual displays, industrial automation, networking products, and renewable energy solutions. Delta Group has sales offices worldwide and manufacturing plants in Taiwan, China, Thailand, Mexico, India and Europe."

9. "In Taiwan, which has the second-largest chip-design industry after the U.S., Novatek is a standout. Chairman Ho Tai-shung has turned it from a little spinoff of United Microelectronics (the Taiwanese chipmaker that is the world's second-largest foundry, behind only neighbor and rival Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing) into a chip-design powerhouse. Novatek, based in Taiwan's premier high-tech zone, the Hsinchu science park, is the island's dominant provider of TFT-LCD driver and controller chips, key components in the liquid crystal displays used in PC monitors and TV screens." (from BusinessWeek)

10. "Largan is the world’s biggest designer and manufacturer of imaging lens products used in mobile devices." (from Bloomberg News)

B. 60% of mainland Chinese high-tech exports are being conducted by Taiwanese companies. This means mainland China still relies on Taiwanese patents to expand its economy. With over 70,000 Taiwanese companies and one million Taiwanese residents, it is business as usual on mainland China.

C. Mainland China produces over half the number of Taiwanese USPTO patents on an annual basis. With $4 trillion dollars in foreign exchange reserves and its own USPTO patents, China's continued industrialization is unstoppable. It's nice to have Taiwanese companies, but they are no longer indispensable.

China has its own long list of corporate titans: Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE, PetroChina, Xiaomi, Alibaba, Baidu, SMIC, Haier, SAIC Motor, etc.

D. Since Taiwan has a small population of 23 million people, it proves that any country with over 20 million in population has the ability to industrialize based on its own innovation and USPTO patents.

E. However, Taiwan is a rare success story. Theoretically speaking, economics is not a zero-sum game. Thus, a developing country's economy should take off with currently undiscovered inventions. Practically speaking, it is difficult to identify a new economic sector that could produce billions of dollars in profits.

In conclusion, the story of Taiwan serves as an interesting model for developing countries. Taiwan proved that you can bootstrap your own economy into becoming a developed country. Hence, it is interesting to keep monitoring the USPTO patents every year to see if there is a breakout country on the cusp of joining the industrialized world.

Taiwan NCKU develops pioneering spin FET transistor technology

"An international team headed by Tainan City-based National Cheng Kung University has developed the world’s first functional spin field-effect transistor for information processing.
...
'Compared with Intel’s current-generation 10 nanometer-class chips utilizing complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology,' Chen said, 'spin FET is capable of delivering 1,000 times the performance with only one-tenth of power.'

The development, first published online by science journal Nature Nanotechnology Dec. 22
, is expected to help NCKU better tap the highly lucrative US$250 billion global IC industry."

China is the new leader on Nature Publishing Index (Asia)

Nature is one of the most prestigious science journals in the world. For the first time, China has published more papers in Nature than Japan. The key metric is the "corrected count" (or CC). The CC makes the proper adjustment to divide credit on joint research collaboration among countries.

Year-to-date, China is responsible for 343.27 articles that Nature accepted for publication. Japan trails at a distant 291.34. The year is practically over and there is no time for Japan to make up the difference. Next year, China will officially pass Japan in the number of science papers published in Nature when all of the data has been collected for year 2014.

This is a momentous shift as China claims the crown of the top rank on the Nature Publishing Index (NPI) for the Asia-Pacific region.

2 million foreigners entered Chinese boarder every day! and 100 million Chinese took holidays overseas and you are still believing in China is a 'closed society' ? lol

No you cannot.

Many foreign websites are banned and so is social media in China. You have your own version of social media because western ones are BLOCKED.

Your free speech was for everyone to see in Hong Kong protest. China maybe rich because of its slave labor, it is certainly not free.

India holds the record of slavery population and still poorer than sub-saharan countries, anyone practice slavery in China will be harshly punished, but not the case in India and I saw by my very own eyes in India``and if similar incidents happened in China, it will be No.1 buzz among various medias````because in civilized world its unacceptable``

even in those sweat factories in China they are making more money than your call-center robots can make
some websites banned by the gov is an act of Protectionism to local business``and we ordinary people can still browse whatever sites we want, all we need to do is to install a small app````

your brain can only get what your selective media wants you to see```there are thousands of demonstration and protests carried out in China and you have zero clue about it`````and this is another fact``

so China is no different from any other developed world and fast developing world```but India not from many perspective

Still going with your rants?

Let a western or American survey be conducted and you will find China to be undisputed leader in pollution, corruption, slavery and every other form of social evil.

You saw by your own eyes in India, ROFLOL!! Are you a lawyer or a judge that you were present in every court case. You travelled to every state and every city and town in India? And a country that rols tanks over its own population is primitive and barbaric, not civilised.

Those in sweat factories are not making any money. They are slaves. Some websites banned include Facebook, Gooogle, Youtube, Twitter etc.

Your opinion holds no value.

No disrespect to Chinese on this forum but they think they are a technology economy where in fact, there are a slave labor country that can be replaced by any country, as explained in the OP. China is stealing tech from other countries but the problem with that. When you steal, nobody will buy from you. They think China is like Japan. It needs light years to catch up with Japan in terms of technology. Now Japan is surging again. They have no chance with keeping up. Also Japan is investing in their allies in the region in terms of technology and economy. At the end of this decade China will be checkmate. They will be outcompeted by cheaper countries.

I think Middle East region should look in to developing Thorium, Fusion, Fission reactors and also solar and wind power with R&D with West this will help them to gain low cost energy that will help them boos their exports of Oil and Gas. More over, helping them to develop industries that produces cheap good quality products.
