It's funny how you talk about science. Iran scientifically is more advanced than secular Turkey. Iran's HDI in 2011 was greater than secular Turkey. Iran and Turkey have similar GDP per captia PPP while Iran has been under sanctions for 30 years.
I don't understand why people think Turkey has it "better" than Iran when it clearly doesn't. If Iran was a puppet state like Turkey and aligned itself with Western interest, Iran would surpass Turkey in every way imaginable. But unlike Turkey, Iran has honour and pride, and is an independent nation which has chosen it's own direction. Iran is being punished for choosing its own destiny.

while iran is swimming in oil and gas while we spend $55+ billion on energy and we have the top 3 uav in the world and making our own navy and defence export of 2011 of $1 billion

Iran ranks second in the world in natural gas reserves and third in oil reserves. HMMM I THINK IF WE HAD NOT THIS MUCH BUT EVEN ENOUGH FOR OURSELVES TODAY WE WOULD BE TOP 10 ECONOMY WHILE WE SPEND SO MUCH ON ENERGY .

Are you seriously doubting what the Arab world has done for this world, I suggest you read a book for once and see the immense achievements Arabs have done in science, math and technology. I agree the Arab world is in the doldrums for these fields but that mainly because of their short sighted leaders, look at Iran.
