A devotional Muslim like you, would choose to believe any news of Muslims being oppressed. Otherwise your godliness will be questionable. I can tell you China did take some measures to counter terroism. Those measures are far from genocide. But I know in your eyes they are no different than genocide. We want to protect our people from terrorist attack. You want to protect your brother's freedom of practising their religional faith. Even their freedom is at cost of others freedom, or even lives.

Those memories are just memories, which are remnant impressions that each person knows or chooses to remember. Such memories are only sacred to the person who remembers it. They are not some collective treasures and certainly not the absolute truth because each person remembers differently and they can contradict with one another.
