In an irony of ironies: the Statue of Unity will be "Made In China"--Times Of India

Even the american flag Armstrong planted on the moon was made in China.
Funny things.Move on.

India has decent ship building industries too. More likely a profit driven decision.

Erm, I am not sure that is true.

Page 16 shows the ship building leaders in the world. The reality is that 90% of the civilian ship building capacity is located in three countries: China, South Korea and Japan.

This leaves military ship building. The largest vessel built by India is the 6800-ton Kolkata-class destroyer. The problem is that the vessel cost about 4 billion USD. (In comparison, the comparable sized Chinese 52D destroyer cost about 500 million USD). Of course, the difference is not purely in metallurgical construction, but it is still indicates large inefficiencies in the manufacturing process.

I mean, saving 10 to 20% may be a profit based decision. If the difference is almost 10 times then it becomes a necessity.

Doubt it. The moonlanding was in 1969. The relationship between China and US is rather frosty back then.

.
Spending 300 million on f**king statute which probably won't contribute anything to economy ,what a waste of taxpayer money by this sadhus government
Not necessarily as Indians are paying a big tribute to a very important person in Indian history. There cannot be a price for this.

Yes perhaps.
But the american flag stitched on US army uniforms was definitely made in China till a few years back.
I recall reading an article about it,Maybe I confused the two or both are correct.

Anyways debate the point, not the specifics.

.
Chinese product's quality heavily depend on how much you pay for them. If you wish the statue to last, the company need to pay the adequate amount instead of the minimum.

Exactly! It reminds me of a story I heard from a factory owner in Yiwu. A Indian businessman walked into his showroom in the market and picked up the cheapest samples on display, and demanded a 40% discount. The poor Chinese guy had 100+ mouths to feed in the factory, and he ended up shipping a few containers of junk to India.

Indian people don't know, It is not Chinese who sell them "Made In China" junks, Indian businessmen do.

US Olympic Uniforms Made in China

No big deal. Most parts of French airbus planes are either made in UK or Germany. Globalisation is the name of the game. Be part of it or be left out

.
usa = made in china here in Britain i cant find anything made in Britain unless vintage.

You don't get it do you ?

Its the Brand Name of China which gets mixed in mud when such things happen. NO ONE will blame the trader, EVERYBODY will blame the manufacturer.

For a few pennies, you destroy your brand name worth Billions.

What brand name you are talking about?

. . .
Brand name of CHINA.

Chinese businessmen are not like Japanese, they are more for profit than quality. If Indian business don't want to pay full price for good quality stuff, they are going to sell you inferior products. Japanese businessmen most likely will refuse to deal with you.You can always buy Japanese products if you can afford them. AS simple as that.

Take it easy, you sound very angry. Blaming on others is always easiest thing to do.

Where on earth did you get that impression? Business is business. Japanese businessmen have very little difference from Chinese businessmen or American businessmen for that matter. The only difference is the regulation, infrastructure and available resource of the country, but business practice is rather similar regardless of the country.

I dealt with both Chinese and Japanese businessmen for quite some time. There are some profound differences between them when it comes to products quality.
