What's new

Imran Khan's two major demands in jail

The older generation has learned to live their whole lives in instability, so they think this is just another episode, but they look forlorn when their kids say they want to leave the country.

It’s a kind of quiet shame I’ve seen on the face of many older Pakistanis, when I last visited Pakistan, those visiting the US from Pakistan, and the older members of the Pakistani diaspora here in New York. They don’t want to talk about Pakistan, they just want to live the remainder of their lives peacefully and obviously to the world their kids and grandkids are being left in when they pass on.

Then they ask why we are not supportive of each other like the other peoples, like the Indians. “They have a strong community here”. So there is a generation worth of the boomers neglect of the community and only now in their old age do they look around for the support they failed to build in their prime years.

Should us in the younger generation keep holding our tongue out of respect?
These older folks don’t want to give up their comforts, that the system bribed them with to stay apolitical.

Last year, when I warned that the younger generation would see this law of the jungle incident as a betrayal, and act in their own individual self interests, and would in turn disengage with the Pakistan and even their own Pakistani extended families where possible.

The drop in remittances are just the first sign.

When you look at that remittance rete bare in mind there has NEVER been a better time to send money to Pakistan.

In the past when the exchange rate was favourable people used to borrow from friends and off cards to send money home to take advantage of the rate.

Today it's nearly 400pkr for gbp and people don't care.

No.

What I'm saying is that Pakistan should study the Pinochet Hyper-capitalist Washington Consensus Neoliberal model and the Putin Hyper-capitalist Washington Consensus Neoliberal model.

Try to avoid things that require competence in governance like a plague.

Don't pretend to be a Sino-sphere country at all.

Pakistan should use realistic models, like Pinochet's Chile and Putin's Russia.

Once Pakistan is able to set up that "minimally viable" economic core, the investments shouldn't be hard to get, as the U.S., Saudi, and China have been waiting decades for Pakistan to get it's shit together and would be glad to have another viably run country to invest in.

You can take advisors from Sino-sphere countries but try to get actual people from Sino-sphere countries to do the running if you are going to use those models.

If you want to implement a Washington Consensus Neoliberal model, be more wary of "advisors" that are generally going to be U.S. or western spies/viceroys.

Try to get businesspeople instead of western officials if you want advice in Washington Consensus Neoliberalism, if you don't want to get colonized (once again).
I don't know what you are smoking/inhaling/ingesting; can you send me some? BTW, you are funny. I like your writing.

The "Chinese Economic Miracle", and "East Asian [Sinosphere] Economic Miracle" are the hotness among popular culture, but they are explicitly very difficult to actually implement.

The easier to implement ones are the "Chilean Economic Miracle [Under Pinochet]", and the "Russian Economic Miracle [Under Putin]"

It's not as sexy, but it's far closer to Pakistan's material conditions.

Everyone is aware what western advisors would mean.

At this point, it pretty much is down to GCC investors, for the next few years any way (probably only 3-5 years), and they most aligned with what the entrenched elite would find acceptable for Pakistan anyway.

I guess it’s now going to be the technocrats turn to see if they can find a “shortcut”.

There is no trust that investments will go anywhere. People need trust in contracts and the courts to enforce them with as little time and effort as possible. Beyond trust, ease of doing business has to be as good as any other country if not better. Pakistan is facing an uphill battle to attract investment.

Thanks for the links; I thought you were joking. But Chile and Russia models won't work for Pakistan. Chile has abundant copper and other natural resources it can run on. Russia is basically a gas station with a country attached. Pakistan is not similarly blessed with high value natural resources and population is too large and unskilled. Why do you think China model is impossible? If they have a Mao style revolutionary who brings about a Cultural Revolution, they can go towards a nonpartisan state where government is run by competent people rather than popular politicians.

Out of all the countries in the world, the only countries where a Communist revolution produced better results than neoliberalism is the USSR(Russia) and East Asian countries.

The competence in governance requirement for socialism/communism is off the charts.

The way Pakistan's natural resources are currently being used is extremely inefficient.

Simply the transition from Feudalism to Capitalism should grow Pakistan massively.

The farmland is being used extremely inefficiently or not used at all.

Pakistan's only source of foreign funds are either

1: U.S. bribes to have full control over government policy.

2: Brotherly GCC/Saudi Money with very few strings attached at extremely subsidized rates.

3: Chinese Money with nearly zero strings attached at extremely subsidized rates.

The reason why you don't see other countries investing is because no one trusts Pakistan at all.

You are still peddling the Washington Narrative from the Trump Era, as your prophet, Imran Khan, was a Trump Administration appointee.

Hopefully the current technocrat setup that is clearly blessed by Washington can move the narrative forwards in PTI circles from at least the Trump Administration Narrative (Largely copied from the Indian Narrative), to the Biden Administration Narrative (That Pakistan needs to selectively default on Chinese loans, despite the fact that the reason Pakistan's percent of Chinese loans is increasing is due to the fact that Chinese loans are the most subsidized and apply the least force to the Pakistani leadership, therefore are the last to be paid back, as one pays back higher interest loans first).

Hopefully Pakistan bans all parties that are U.S. puppets, like Imran Khan and PTI, so that it can focus on development instead of being held hostage to geopolitics.

The U.S.'s preferred leader is obviously Imran Khan though, which is why every single CIA/Western backed media outlet is backing and has always backed Imran Khan.

The U.S.'s plan is to use Imran Khan as an Erdogan-like figure.

A Fake Anti-American that is under the full control of Washington.

Hopefully the COAS Asim Munir is able to protect PML(N) from U.S. machinations before the elections.

It's pretty clear that Nawaz Sharif and PML(N) is the only patriotic party in Pakistan that has any chance of developing Pakistan.

Imran Khan/PTI is intentionally incompetent (on U.S. orders), whose goal is to bankrupt Pakistan to force Pakistan to selectively default on Chinese loans and then be stuck under the direct U.S. control through a colonial viceroy (Either Imran Khan or his chosen COAS).

PPP/Bhutto is probably unintentionally incompetent and will end up serving a similar purpose.

If Pakistan is unlucky and gets a U.S. puppet COAS after Asim Munir's term is up, then Pakistan might be stuck in the same dilemma.
The callousness, apathy and heredity sociopathy just in Bilawal's voice is so palpable that it will prevent him from doing an honest hour of work leave alone an honest day's work, leave further alone any hope of him working for the betterment of Pakistan and its people.

His grandfather was a sociopath full of hate of lesser Pakistanis and so was his mother who openly espoused racist diatribe against the urdu speaking community as whole not just their representative party. The apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

Nothing wrong; most Christians can't read Latin or Greek bible. But why not Urdu Quran? can't he read Urdu well?
christians can't read latin or greek bible because for centuries the church strictly forbad common christians to learn latin or greek bible. only priests were allowed. Quran on the other hand is open to all. Millions of Muslims have memorized Quran word by word. even a non Muslim can read and memorize Quran. no one will stop him

Tridentine (Latin) Mass was the standard in Roman Catholic Church till 1962. Even today, many churches have Latin Mass. Church never forbade anyone from learning or reading Latin or Greek bible. Many learned people do that even today. It is just uncommon as it requires much effort to learn a language.

Yes the church did forbade common people from learning the bible up until they completely altered the bible from its original version.

There is no such thing as "original version". If you are interested, you can read some books or watch some seminars on youtube by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bart_D._Ehrman He is a professor and expert on early Christianity. All holy books have complicated histories. Sometimes, history contradicts with faith.
