Imran Khan's Islamabad Rally - امربالمعروف - Updates & Discussion

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) have political presence in USA.

Benefits:

1. Fund-raising possibilities
2. Building contacts with American politicians

This would be common knowledge in Pakistani political circles.

Tehmina Durrani disclosed this matter in her book (My Feudal Lord) several years ago.

- - -

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also have political presence in USA.

PTI should be able to do what PPP can do in USA.

- - -

Political wings in USA are illegal or something?

They also have a well know and pretty real eatate agent here in Toronto and her sole job is to ‘entertain’ PPP politicians who come here and help them buy real estate with haram money.

I feel your frustration brother. Pakistan will be left in the dark. The gap with India will grow large to such an extent that we'll just be pummeled in each and every conflict with them in the future. Let's hope for the best......
The silver lining is that losing this vote of confidence might be the very best thing for IKs political future- if he loses , I don’t see how any govt formed by PDM lasts more than 6 months - then PTI will run as underdog and as a victim and be vindicated for their lackluster performance- look at who our allies were. If they win, I also think they call elections in 6 months. The vote of no confidence is actually a boon for PTI

.
On a more sad note my feeling is, short of a miracle , that it's over for PMIK. To my mind it's very simple. The very order that has sunk it's roots deep into the body of Pakistan for over 35 years, corrupt to the core felt threatened. The game of music chairs that we see for decades, with one corrupt coming in, raping the country and then the next corrupt coming to take turns to rape the country has won.

The achilles heel of PMIK was always the wafer thin majority. And the old order united, just simply threw money at few MNA's who true to principles of lotacracy were bought out. Rest will just be history.

The tragedy is over the last 35 years of Sharif/Zardari order rest of South Asia has risen. India which was a rickshaw pulling starving slum in 1990 today is roaring ahead. Bangladesh which was swamp that was drowning in poverty and Bay Bengal today is a emerging economic tiger.

This is what Sharifs and Zardari/Bhuttos have given Pakistan over the last 35 years. Yet these very people will be back in power - again to loot and plunder.

Democracy is best form of revenge says Zardari. More like the spunk that comes out of his penis is fcukin punishment on Pakistan. If I thought these people were democrats the sadness might be mediated but how the fcuk is a son of a daughter of father demoracy? And it's not much differant in PML-N where the daughter now stands as the heir. Pakistan might as well declare monarchy - least that way we would have stability. Sort of you get what you paid for and not fraud dressed as democracy.

This is democracy in Pakistan and how the old order is so entrenched. Apparently a PPP MNA accused of murder ran away to Dubai and now is coming back to vote in the no confidence against PMIK. And the fcukin courts have given a mand who tortured an d murdered a poor man protective bail? Pray please tell me how is this possible in a so called Islamic Republic????

The reality is a society, a nation, a system is only reflection of the people who make it. 50 million English people will produce United Kingdom. 80 million Turks will produce Turkey. What we get in Pakistan is what 200 million of Pakistan deserve. They are the makers and enablers of this foul system.

PMIK can do all he wants by invoking "Amr bil Maruf" but he overlooks that if such rightousness existed in Pakistan culture this rotten order would have been wiped out decades ago.

We saw a few days ago how a dead body was left on the wedding hall while people dined to their hearts content. God forbid what 70 years of Islam and Islamic preachin has done to the Pakistani people.

It certainly has not made them better or nurtured "amr bil maruf" in their hearts. PMIK spent to much time abroad and got carried away with high ideals. I wish him the best. Just retire to Bani Gala and write a book on his life.

Maybe few generations down the road when Pakistan has witnessed the rise of "amr bil maruf" things might begin to change and then IK is redeamed in history.

Adios Kaptaan!

Ps. Please somebody tell me how a half witted punk like Bilawal with zero credentials other than that he dropped out of a Bhutto underpass is better option then IK or Maryam who has achieved what in life?
Everything is coordinated from outside. These Brain dead corrupt politicians don’t trust each other and couldn’t have pulled of such an alliance without outside assurances, political and financial clout.

If PDM is able to deseat PMIK, than this will be an utter failure of Pakistan Security Establishment. This is the job of different counterintelligence Depts inside country to identify, intercept and Neutralize any foreign interference inside country. Just like FBI along with DHS open up a huge investigation when there were indications that Russians are trying to interference in US elections.

.
Who know how many people inside establishment themselves are compromised. All it takes is a student visa stamp and education grant for Gernaail sahib kid to buy his friendship.

.
Let's examine Imran Khan's performance on several fronts using empirical data where feasible:

1. Macroeconomic indicators:
  • Current account balance: Pakistan's current account balance in FY21 was -$1.9 billion, this figure was -$19.1 billion when IK inherited the government from Nawaz Sharif. Perpetual current account deficits (CAD) are arguably the biggest structural economic issue of the country; they inhibit growth and put pressure on the buying power of citizens. In a short period of time, IK substantially improved this indicator.
  • GDP: somewhat sustainable GDP growth of around 4-5% which is in line with the average over the past 20 years or so. Unfortunately due to the current account issue I mentioned above, the GDP cannot grow more than this rate without a economic recession. This fact further highlights the commendable performance of IK in reducing the current account deficit.
  • Foreign reserves: as at December 2021, foreign reserves totaled $23.8 billion. This figure was at $14.4 billion when IK inherited the government. Again, a substantial improvement.
  • Foreign debt: although Pakistan's aggregate foreign debt has increased substantially since 2018 from $64.1 billion to $77.4 billion, the debt to GDP ratio is roughly the same at around 25%. Not impressive but not bad either.
  • Exports: exports have increased by 3% from 2018 and in FY22 are forecasted to increase by 19% when comparing against 2018. Huge achievement. Also of note is the increase in the share of service exports.
  • Remittances: remittances are up 50% or ~$10 billion) in 2021 when compared to 2018, that is a huge increase and a key driver for addressing the current account deficit referenced above. This is truly impressive and IK receives tons of credit here especially with the Roshan Digital Account.
  • Imports: this is an area where IK has not performed as well as he can. Although imports are down ~4% from 2018, they are still too high and are putting pressure on the CAD. The government could do more to curtail the import bill especially for consumer discretionary items such as mobile phones / electronics. Of course this is not politically easy to do.
  • Inflation: now let's come to the one that everyone sees and feels on a daily basis and is likely the reason for the timing of the opposition's attack on IK. The 12 month moving average inflation is 10.1% compared to 5% in 2018. It's worth noting here that most countries in the world are going through high inflation and this is highly driven by external factors such as oil prices, COVID, and the war in Ukraine. Imran Khan's financial support package of 1.5 Trillion PKR in response to the pandemic likely also contributed to inflation just like every other country that helped its citizens during the crisis. Unfortunately policy options to curtail inflation are limited for any leader right now.
2. Human development:

  • Covid response: Pakistan under IK was one of the best performing countries in managing COVID, ranked ahead of countries like UK, France, Belgium, Spain and USA. That is a huge accomplishment that requires a lot of leadership and management skill. IK's performance undoubtedly saved thousands of Pakistani lives. Pakistanis can congratulate themselves and their leadership for doing a fantastic job. WHO and others have also recognized the achievement.
  • Ehsaas program: IK's ehsaas program was rated one of the top social protection measures in the world. A remarkable accomplishment that will pay socio-economic dividends in the long run.
  • Sehat Sahulat Program: IK introduced a step towards universal health care, which if I'm not mistaken would make Pakistan the only developing country to achieve such a rich program. The program will be expanded to approximately 39 million families during fiscal year of 2021- 2022. This requires vision, care, and leadership.
3. Foreign policy and security:
  • Afghanistan crisis: IK navigated the US's withdrawal from Afghanistan with skill although not perfectly. IK's handling of the crisis minimized the economic and security risks to Pakistan while capitalizing on the diplomatic opportunities (i.e. rescuing foreign diplomats, leading the management of the crisis by convening regional and extra regional countries, providing aid and influencing the Taliban regime).
  • Independent foreign policy: you can reasonably argue without end on the merits of Pakistan's foreign policy however, one has to agree that IK is forming an independent foreign policy that is devoid of bribes and/or threats from foreign nations. I won't get into whether the policy is good or bad because that is a long and subjective discussion fit for another thread.
  • Security: the security situation in Pakistan is quite stable despite the massive new instability in Afghanistan. IK's leadership and resolve during Operation Swift Retort is a matter of national pride and was witnessed around the globe - he was the face of the response in global media. I have serious doubts that other leaders such as Zardari or Fazlul Rehman would navigate an attack by the Indians competently.
4. Integrity:

  • Sincere leadership: Now that I mentioned Zardari in the preceding bullet, I have to raise the integrity of IK and his senior leadership team - love them or hate them, they are sincere and they are working hard for the country. They are not known to take bribes or sell the nation's interest for personal gain. Leaders with integrity have the potential to transform a nation and the opposite is true for leaders that lack integrity (i.e. Bilawal, Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Fazl Ul Rehman, Altaf Hussain).

Personal note: I have no allegiance to any political party but I do wish to acknowledge IK on the merit of his performance.

Not a single promise...hmm:
Health card
Single national curriculum
5.6% growth and expected 5 plus this year
record exports 28-30bn dollars
record remittances 30bln
Ehsaas welfare program
mera ghar housing scheme

to name a few..

All are working as expected. What promise do you want from IK?
Sindh government has rejected single national curriculum. In next election when PTI form government in Sindh then it will be implemented in Sindh.

I feel you bro. While IK was giving his speech I felt hurt in his voice as well. He knows the progress going on will go down the drain we’ve made this far and it pains me just as much as you.

But as you put it 200 million Pakistanis will produce the Pakistan it deserves.

They also have a well know and pretty real eatate agent here in Toronto and her sole job is to ‘entertain’ PPP politicians who come here and help them buy real estate with haram money.

In my business, I know a property developer who gets constant funds from currently serving Pak Army and Air Force Officers to invest in the states. I’ve kept it close to my chest but know of approx 13 names I can give, as I’ve had to deal with this for commercial property and liability purposes and the total amount is around $ 20 million.

Actually establishment is not neutral. They are actually not in favor of Imran anymore. In any case armed forces should be totally disarmed from having any political role. This hurts Pakistan and it will never grow until Army continue to do what they do in political landscape.

My dear sir, you are seriously not saying that the poster mentioned political wings anywhere? Or he implied that Murad Ali Shah went to meet the PPP US chapter? If you are, then what can I say.

I think you missed the whole point of my post

Murad Ali Shah visited USA several times in past two starting from December 2020 to September 2021

Every single time when he visited USA he called the reason behind visit to be "private visit"

He had no such "private visits" of USA in 2018 and 2019. Similarly Bilawal also visited USA in July 2021 at the same time Murad was visiting USA and he too called the visit "personal visit"

No mention of any fund raising. No mention of meeting usa politicians. In fact for Bilawal visit it was specifically mentioned that he won't visit Washington DC

Doesn't look normal visits to me at least. Clearly these visits were odd. Happened just 7 to 8 months before this whole drama of removing Imran Khan started. Happened when USA was pulling out of Afghanistan. For you these might be normal visits not for me
