Imran Khan to perform ground-breaking of Karachi's cancer hospital on Dec 29

KARACHI: The ground-breaking ceremony of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Karachi would be held on December 29, 2016.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's chairman Imran Khan, who is also Chairman Board of Governors Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust will lay the foundation stone.

In February this year, the then Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Shareef had granted a 20 acre plot for the construction of the cancer hospital in Defence Housing Authority located at the Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway.

A statement of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust said, "The construction of a comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment facility in Karachi will not only provide the most modern cancer treatment to the people of Sindh, but will also help raise healthcare standards and provide training and employment opportunities in the region."

It is Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust's third Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in the country. Trust has already established two hospitals - one in Lahore and the other is in Peshawar.

Finally..........Karachi, Pakistan's largest city has been waiting for a quality cancer hospital for decades. We need more specialist hospitals all over the country.

Good going IK, people can disagree with his politics but what he has done/doing for the people by making these hospitals, has earned him so much respect that is only surpassed by Edhi sahib

It is leased, not "granted."

A friend of mine is working at building a free eye hospital, and so far feedback has been positive from Cantt boards, whereas CDGK is corrupt to the core, it's disgusting.

I personally would like SKH to take on blood sucking Agha Khan hospital. A world class center of excellence is desperately required in Pakistan's biggest city, that doesn't skin people alive.

Congratulations to the people of Karachi..though I wish none suffers from Cancer but as the fate has it, some people do suffer from it unfortunately so now they have world class facility right at their door step.

What kind of crap some people can have in their heads is beyond me.

Some people just don't like to see development and prosperity bcz it would make their own party that brought hell look bad. This is a very positive step for Karachi as Imran khan was asked to build one in Karachi when he announced it in Peshawar and he promised he will. Looks like he is keeping that promise and now three provincial capitals will have a cancer hospital with state of the art equipment which also allows free cancer treatment for the poor. Plus this means that people won't have to travel all the way to lahore or Peshawar just to get great treatment for cancer.

I think next mission should be Quetta and while the people of pakistan will rejoice while those that are selfish and have political affiliations and simply do not want to see the people of Pakistan develop and be happy, will be crying and making allegations. These shameless characters did the same with EDHI and they will do the same here as well.
