Imran conditionally supports NWA operation

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that he is ready to perform as mediator between the government and Taliban as the latter consider him as an honest arbitrator, Geo News reported.

Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, Imran Khan said military operation in FATA is not the solution of the issue rather its just a part of the solution.

Khan said he is neither against the US nor its slave, adding that 140,000 personnel of Pakistan army are busy in the war for last eight years. He said we have to come out of the US war.

If the government assures peace after North Waziristan operation, he will support this action, he added. He said the war against terror could be handled in political ways.

finally a good statement from IK

Good to see we have developed a consensus amongst the political parties for one point agenda. They don't confess it openly but it is very apparent if you see the type of statements they are giving in the TV channels, media and the parliament

Misreporting: He said exactly the same thing, but he was actually challenging the govt. He is stubborn on his stance of "counterproductive military ops without a political backup".

Please watch the entire interview.

Please do post the interview if you find the link. I will try to watch it

Every sane person will support a surgical operation when the terrorists have been identified as individuals and where abouts knon..
There is no point in going after 'an anonymous caller'.

when the war mongers taunt him with "Can Imran bring peace through negotiations with taliban?

he countered that with

"ensure me peace with military operation" !!

That's what the army had attempted since the start,a compromise,a peace agreement of a sort that would stop the Taliban from practicing their militancy within the Northern Areas with the hope that the Taliban would disintegrate at one point.Just look at the results, with the previous treaties being broken by them the only option left is a military option against the Taliban.Besides last time I checked a regional map the Northern Areas were part of Pakistan, not the Taliban so we cant allow them to rule over those areas.

Im all for Imran Khan but if only he would consider changing his opinion on the War on Terror, even if its just a little...

An all out military option hasnt worked and wont work even after a century..
A wise guy once told me..
"Buraee khatam karnee ho tou uss kaa zikar choor do,loog khud hi bhool jaein gey".
Sometimes leaving things alone is the best solution...

How man of you guys personally or remotely know somebody who just sawa taliban video on youtube and went on to join them? Nobody does that...

But how many people become suicide bombers after they lose loved ones to drones and military operations?

Decide yourself...

Folks its going to be a long War, it took 27 Years for Sri Lanka to root out insurgency terrorism and separatism and when things were much worse Chinese and Pakistan's help was sought. Hopefully we'll take less Time.

GIANTsasquatch; Im all for Imran Khan but if only he would consider changing his opinion on the War on Terror, even if its just a little...

What possible opinion is left, it is either Ops or Talks there is no in between. You have done Ops the results you saw, Talks should also be there along with Operations. Pakistan Army has said it is not the time but the option is there people are not getting it "option is there but it is not the right time".

Pakistani politicians love such emotional speeches; today IK is against any operation in the north tomorrow he will be justifying a "limited scale operation in Waziristan" (IF he gets into power).

The operation in NWA has become the need of Pakistan, sooner or later they have to do this. Coalition forces will be leaving Afghanistan by 2014 (of course most of their forces), before their withdrawal ANA has to take control of their region...a large scale operation is most needed in Afghanistan first. If MOST of the strength of terrorists is not eliminated in Afghanistan then there will be no peace in Pakistan either, hence withdrawal of coalition forces will undone everything.

Don't know what purpose a military operation can possibly achieve. At best, it will be an inconvenience (maybe major) for Taliban but with their low-cost infrastructure, it is very easy for them to move around and temporarily relocate inside Pakistan or across the border.

Taliban message finds so much resonance with Pakistan's religious right that these groups have plenty of sympathizers all over the country and an army operation may simply end up being opportunity for more aggressive recruitment and fund-raising for Taliban.

Sir their is no need of NW operation Pakistan made its first blunder by entering its own areas and bombing its own people on American orders than after 4 years of war TTP is formed in 2007 and they start attacking Pakistan Armed forces and people and sir they are surviving in Tribal areas because of local support which they get and they get that support because Pakistan Army is considered American Army because they do what Americans ask them to do Sir we need to talk to our people shoot down drones and than take their help and isolate TTP and than take on them other wise we will make another big blunder for which we will pay a really heavy price for really long time

There is no time and need for another blunder as did earlier because of greens. Pakistan army should first clear itself on drones as they itself involved. Politicians are politicians and they will play where the can and where they see the place. NW operation is necessary and PA will do it so Imran's move is the sign that operation already begins.

Fact is Imran conditionall supports military operations and conditionally supports negotiations.

Fact is Imran whole heartedly is against American drone strikes and is on record to say he will order PAF to shoot them down.

In all of Pakistan not a single other leader is on record to say that.

On record you can make any comment but it doesn't mean it will happen. Political tricks and nothing more, may be we are familiar with a lot of LOUD WORDS from our politicians which remain in record for always.........with not practical move.
