What's new

Importance of indigenization of defense industry.

Isn't it approaching the twilight of this technology, though?
People are already looking at the next technologies to replace photolithography.

This paper is already ten years old. There's probably a lot more reserach by now.

Thanks but scientists are always more optimistic than they should be. As far as I know optical lithography is still used widely in electrical eng.

With better light sources lithography should be able to arbitrarily etch smaller features. The only question is how do we make those light sources. I'm not an expert on these processes though.

Well if it's just a certain wavelength needed, use a bloody laser. Those are only really limited by the wavelength required for activating the lithographical compounds.

our fabs will be churning out Intel chips.

All the top of the line CPU are manufactured in the US. China and other foreign fabs produce chip set and flash drives. But not top of the line CPU

what do you mean by "advanced" intel has plants in Israel, Philippines and the like making their top of the line consumer cpus

Consumer chips are not military chips. Military chips have to withstand massive forces, temperatures, and the like.

Military CPU are often inferior to civilian ones in terms of performance, but are more reliable.

true, high performance is less important than reliability in military applications.
