Illegal occupation: Nawab of Junagadh urges Pakistan to revive accession case

So the accession was the accession referred to under the GOI Act, 1935, and the form was one which was appended to that Act. You are perfectly right in saying that the Viceroy was free to implement the workings of that Act in any way that he felt appropriate. Now, for reasons mentioned in the previous paragraph, there was talk of a plebiscite. Mountbatten was well within his rights to ask for a plebiscite.

Also @hellfire @scorpionx

GOI Act was irrelevant at the time of Independence

Plebisicite was NOT a legal requirement as per the Indian Independence act

As far as Mountbatten is concerned this is HIS STATEMENT

"My Affection for India NEVER interfered with my pursuit of British Interests "

Mountbatten was Implementing British PRO Pakistan policy which was framed By
Atlee ; Noel Baker and Aneurin Bevan

India was forced to concede Plebiscite when the matter went to UN

The US -UK combine were acting in Pakistan's interests

Still we managed to avoid plebiscite and JUNK the UN resolutions

Why US and UK were supporting Pakistan was because of Cold war considerations

@Joe Shearer For you Mountbatten's words and Actions MEAN everything

But the Indians who have Un ravelled the British Conspiracy of Kashmir are of no value

Whether you consider it Trickery or not but it is there in letter and word in UN Resolution. India cannot turn its back on which it has signed.

Yes we can ; The UN resolutions are only worth being put in the shredder

Princely states. No communal award applied to them. A mistake very very frequently made by Pakistani commentators.

Their authority as rulers.
Colonism is illegal under democratic republic framework.

Loosing the country to them in the first place? Being their slave? History is bitter, but learn from it.
But now we are strong. So can dispute the legality of past actions to our advantage.

Colonism is illegal under democratic republic framework.

Yes, it is. So? Where was the democratic republican framework in 1947? It only came in by 1950. Do you know anything, or do you spout nonsense by clockwork?

Every dog has its fleas, and every flea has further fleas. Remember when the Chinese thought that way?

Just a reminder: they still think that way.

Another reminder: the gap between India and China in military terms is growing every year.

Why don't you go and beat up some cow-transporter? You will get much more satisfaction, we will get some peace and all will be well with the world.

How about we stand up with South-Indians who usually face discrimination at the hands of superior North-Indians ? :azn:

There was Indian central legislative assembly since 1919 and elections were held. Laws were made. Our constitution in 1950 is second version or earlier laws that were there in British India. We still have laws that date back to 19th century.

If you are ignorant, don't raise a topic.

Until 1947, all laws were raised in the British Houses of Parliament.

Look up the powers of the legislature created by the Morley-Minto reforms and of the legislature created by the GoI Act of 1935. The entire Act was written in London, for a British Colony, ruled by the Viceroy. There was no independent law-making.

Why are you arguing stupidly? And with such deep ignorance?

We are not fighting China. We are fighting Pakistan.

And China backs Pakistan.

We are not fighting China. We are fighting Pakistan.

Corrections here:

1. You cannot unravel history. You can only go down that path again. So, unilateral withdrawal as suggested by you is impractical. It is unrealistic. So first become realistic.

2. We are fighting much bigger issues. Poverty and lack of socio-economic development at desired pace. You win against Pakistan if you work on those parameters. China is an example. Inspite of democracy not being there, it is unified and growing stronger. Its progression has been economic, social and now military strengthening. You beat poverty and improve your socio-economic conditions, you win 99.9% of your wars.

Well India invaded Junagadh and Hyderabad, so thats why we claim Kashmir

The British rule was ILLEGAL ; Hence they had No right to dictate their terms
NOR we are under any obligation to respect those laws

More than The letter of the law ; what matters is the spirit and substance of it

The British DESIRE for Plebiscite did not have any force of Conviction
Hence we could easily junk the UN resolution

Well India invaded Junagadh and Hyderabad, so thats why we claim Kashmir

We got Junagarh and Hyderabad ; but you are STILL stuck on the LOC

You should be thanking the british, If it wasn't for them other euoropean powers would had come to South Asia, and modern day India would had been something like Africa.
