I think Jinnah (R.A) knew what Pakistan would go through at first before to establish itself as settled nation. No nation can progress overnight. It takes time. And Jinnah (R.A) was the man of wisdom with long foresight. Precisely why he rejected temporary ruling of Hindustan in favor of separate Muslim state for Muslims in the long run.
And he was personally visited by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in dreams where he was ordered to go back to Indian Muslim people for Pakistan, so he knew Pakistan was going to be reality hence he was rather spiritually motivated. And maybe little glimpse of unseen future he may have foreseen like Allama Iqbal (R.A) who left the veiled hint in the poetry about the future of Pakistan.
So to surmise, Greater Pakistan is around the corner and Greater Pakistan cannot become reality without blood sacrifice. So both the executor and visionary knew the price of Greater Pakistan at greater expense according to my opinions based on my personal research.
