US has control over Israel because the US supplies $3+ billion in direct aid and also gives subsidizes its military purchase and forces other EU nations to do so. Israel sells Western technologies to China and Russia through the black market to remain on their good side.

Yes I have this question for a time if the JF-17 as good as the F-16 why China never inducted?.

First of all Pakistan is a small country and China is a large country both have different requirements.Second of all why would China need thunders if it has J-11,J-10,,Su-27,Su-30.Third J-10 can't be subjected to foreign embargo.Thunders are good but it's problem is range,F-16 has good range.

The only country exporting to China is Russia because they dont love US and EU. The Lavi was cancelled because of US pressure. US pressured Israel to cancel Phalcon deal and Green Pine radar. US has absolute control over Israel.

Without doubt J-10 has borrowed a lot of design feature from the 'Lavi'. However, Lavi was cancelled in 1987 primarily because of the lack of funds.

A lot of funding for the Israeli defence projects comes from the US. Lavi being in direct competition with the likes of F-16 & F-18, funding Lavi implied US financing competition against their own aircraft industry. On the other hand, Israel has a small pool of economic resources. Governor of Bank of Israel publically stated that Israel could not afford to produce Lavi thru her own funds. Understand Israeli Minister Moshe Arens offered his resignation in protest.

JF-17 is smaller than F-16 therefore it cant match its T/W, range, radar dome size and payload weight.

But is cheaper to prosecute and operate and is good in close air support and air defence roles.

To the O.P

The JF17 was built specifically for Pakistan and its requirements the main driving force behind the plane was the PAF


Pakistan required a full multi role aircraft that Pakistan could build at home and have complete ownership of and have freedom to make any changes/add any weapons too and have very little strings attached to it



It is difficult to compare two different planes but the JF17 matches the earlier block F16s and is a maturing plane and will have a full spectrum of weapons when it is fully matured



The plane wasn't developed by Pakistan and China it was developed by PAF and a specific chinese company, PAF dictated development based on its vast experience sndca whole range of perimeters was taken into consideration

PAF always intended the aircraft for export and once the block 2s come online and the weapons package matures sales will be signed





China was already in the process of development the J10 for its airforce they had no reason to ditch that process for the JF17



JF17 will be a great addition to any airforce especially in the context of a high low mix
