What's new

If JF-17 as good as the F-16.

Tejas is an indigenous Indian project a which is now under serial production and is already ordered by IAF and Naval Air Arm.Tejas mk1 already have many capabilities of jf 17 blk 2,and mk2 is going to have an AESA radar. You can troll about it after you guys have developed your own fighter.Agreed ?
I agree but I am agreeing from past seven years...........-_-
Its 2015 already and no Tejas :)
I was reading old threads of 2010 and 2012 where ''people'' were saying...............''hey we will have Tejas and Rafales by 2015 and we will be working on TejasMk2 and FGFA which will in IAF arsenal by 2020''.....................result I deduce from such conversation is that......................''HARDLY any Tejas and forget FGFA and NGFA''...............
I do not act but I respond when ''people'' make fun of things which r better than their toys :)

May be its an Indian silly putty workfare project to keep Indian scientists and engineers busy and employed until they come up with something that IAF wants.

.
Like wise I refer to old posts from Pakistanis about PAF having 150 thunders by 2015. Inluding mk 2 and a stealth version in testing phase.

Some even predicted mass exports earning billons in dollars.

I think fan boys get carried away both sides.

just go see your J31 thread & J10 threads

.
Fans are fans after all ...............
and PAF do not use mk2 configuration -_-
and I do not think u heard such ''rumors'' from every Pakistani source and analyst. But I have seen every Indian claiming what I said just before..............either its Pakistan defense or India Defense..............:)

PAF has 50 JF-17 Block I operational now. JF-17 Block II production has started last year and 50 will be manufactured. PAF seems to be intentionally going slow since they want incremental upgrades.

.
No such thing as intentional going slow.

Upgrades and block upgrades do take time.

Air Cdr. Khalid who is deputy chief project director for JF said 13 months ago that production speed is according to air force's plans and retirement schedule of older types

The simple answer is No. the F-16 is a combat proven aircraft that can carry a bigger weapons load then the JF-17 and a better radar. The JF-17 is a decent enough design, with plenty of room for upgrades, but due to financial constraints I doubt its ever going to reach its full potential. I think money is a massive issue with the JF-17. Pakistan doesn't have the money right now and we'll always have short change. The JF-17 needs a better engine, a better radar and perhaps incorporated stealth will it get these things i'm doubtful, who will pay for it your chacha? our economy is a gutter.

.
Manila good honest assessment.

You pay peanuts you get monkeys.

You pay big dollar you get the state of the art.

China has no intention of getting jf-17 because its a sub par plane made for a financially poor airforce. Last thing it needs is the likes of JF-17 to counter the likes of F-15ks and F-16s from South korea, F-2 and F-15Js from Japan and Mirage-2000s and F-16s from ROC.

PAF air chiefs were on high claiming China will induct 500 - 700 JF-17s and what not in 2003 - 2005. All that buklshit vaporized when PLAAF actually looked at the plane and poo poo'ed it. And China is just 1 in the list. Here is the complete list of countries which ran away in the opposite direction after taking a look at the JF-17

1# China
2# Myanmar
3# Azerbaijan
4# Zimbabwe
5# Turkey
6# Serbia
7# Egypt
8# Saudi Arabia
9# Sri Lanka
10# Nigeria

Did I miss anyone? Now that's a long list of failures. These deals were either "in the final stages of the deal" or were "genuinely interested" or fight trials took place in the countries and lost the tender, and some in the list hilariously claimed that the deal was signed.

Now an even longer list of countries who were "interested" in the JF-17.

Indonesia
Bangladesh
Syria
Bolivia
Ethiopia
Morocco
Venezuela
Iran
Lebanon
Albania
Malaysia
North Korea
Sudan
Congo
#Argentina
Tanzania
Thailand
Eritrea

F-16 we see today is the result of hard work of 40 years compared to that jf-17 is just a little boy. Give thunder a decade or a half more and you'll see wonders happening with it.

Well my friend your extravagant elaboration on the failure of JF-17 export program is not the topic here i believe.... And Chinese have not inducted it because they never made it as a Chinese fighter for PLAAF... It was Made for Pakistan and if exported would have been a bonus... Don't believe me... All the testing Evaluation and integration of weapons was and is being done in Pakistan..China helped us establish a basic structure to make copies of Thunder and try and make them better...

.
Ali. is 100% CORRECT.

Thunder was designed and built for the NEEDS of PAF of TODAY & Tommrrow

No way could PLAAF dream of inducting a Thunder since the THREATS and operational needs of PLAAF are light years ahead of PAF.

PLAAF is designed and been developed to fight high quality air forces like USA /USN Japan & Korea and Taiwean. and india.

They are not going to deploy a chinease pilot in a FC1/JF17 to fight a PILOT in a
F16/52
F18 SUPERHORNET
F15K
SU30MKI
F35 OR F22
MIRAGE2000/5
MIG29K

Too give their pilots a good chancve to engage and win PLAAF has deployed J10 J11 SU30/27 and in 5 years J20

JF17 fits only PAF profile at present

ONLY YOU GUYS KNOW YOUR PROFILE
