The Israeli optics company Meprolight has said it will deliver "thousands" of its MEPRO M5 weapon sights to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from December.

The M5 red dot sight is designed for 'both-eyes-open' shooting and can be used with magnification devices and night-vision goggles. Meprolight says it can function for thousands of hours on a single AA battery.

A company source told IHS Jane's that the IDF with continue to use its existing MEPRO 21 sights, which require no batteries, alongside the new M5s as the combination provides an "optimal solution".

The Indian Special Forces are in love with Tavor since the day it was inducted in their inventories because of it's sheer accuracy, ruggedness and maintenance free nature:smitten:.Over and all an awesome A.R.(probably the best at present) designed by the IMI.Anyway, the Indian Special Forces are slowly replacing their MARS sight with the new Mepro Light because of the longevity of the battery of the latter one:-).
