Its truelly a shame that the Aselsan ASYA is only 39cal. I suppose that it didnt want to compete with MKEK's Yavuz artillery system, who also produced the 39cal for the ASYA.

ASYA is 52cal according to the brochure.

Yup true. I read it right after i posted the comment. I assumed based on the proportions and competition that MKEK wouldnt produce L52cal barrel for Aselsan's system. The whole cabin/armor got me confused for a second. Which just begs the question why build two different types of systems in which MKEK is both involved in. You want competition... against yourself? Either way ASYA seems like the better of the two.

MKEK is ready to go and passed all field tests. Experts said we could see it soon in "combat".
ASYA is a prototype conceptual and the name shows the direction - Export

MKEK's version is probably cheaper. It's manually/assistance loaded from what I saw in the photos and about 5 tonnes lighter.

IDEF 2017: Aselsan unveils new unmanned turret

Turkey's Aselsan has unveiled a new unmanned turret at the IDEF'17 defence exhibition in Istanbul. Developed as a private venture, the company is marketing the turret, known as the Nefer, as an upgrade option for armoured fighting vehicles.

Nefer is a gyro-stabilised unmanned turret capable of being armed with either NATO- or Eastern-designed weapons. The primary armament consists of either a 25 mm or 30 mm cannon. Western designs such as the Orbital ATK Armament Systems 25 mm M242 or Oerlikon KBA cannon, or 30 mm MK 44 can be used, as well as Eastern designs such as the KBP Instrument Design Bureau 2A42. Additionally, a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun is mounted to the left hand-side of the primary armament, this being either an FN MAG58, M240, or PKT. Some 200 rounds of 25 mm or 30 mm ammunition is carried, along with 300 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.

The weapons' gyro-stabilisation enables the weapon to be fired while the platform vehicle is on the move, with the operator located below armour underneath the turret. Alternatively, Nefer can be operated remotely through the use of a detachable user interface. This comprises a single screen and two hand controls.

The turret uses automatic target tracking and ballistics calculations to improve hit probability, with a fire-control computer fusing this data with other sources, such as meteorological data from a turret roof-mounted sensor. A laser rangefinder is also located within the day/thermal sight mounting to the right-hand side of the turret's armament. A round counter is fitted, with a warning prompt given to the operator when ammunition is running low.

Kaplan MT Modern Medium Weight Tank

Turkish FNSS Savunma company publicly displayed for the first time its new Kaplan MT Modern Medium Weight Tank prototype at IDEF 2017.

The Modern Medium Weight Tank, also known as the MMWT, is a collaborative tank program between Turkish manufacturer FNSS and Indonesian manufacturer PT Pindad. The governments of Indonesia and Turkey first agreed in May 2015 to jointly develop the MMWT for the Indonesian Army at a reported cost of 30 million US dollars.

The Kaplan MT is an armored fighting vehicle mounting armed with a 105 mm rifled tank gun fitted with a thermal sleeve, fume extractor, muzzle brake and muzzle reference system, which enables the gunner to bore sight the 105 mm gun without leaving the vehicle.

On 1 November 2016, during the 2016 Indo Defence expo, the first model of the tank was unveiled, along with some technical specifications. Most notably, the vehicles overall weight was reported to be around 35 tonnes, and the main armament would be provided by a Belgian-made turret developed by CMI Defence featuring a 105mm rifled barrel, capable of firing a wide range of projectiles.

Turkish Aerospace Industries showcases T625 light utility helicopter at IDEF 2017

The Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TAI) displayed its new T625 light utility helicopter at the 13th edition of Turkey’s major defence and security exhibition IDEF 2017.

The T625 helicopter, slated to enter the five-ton light utility class is being designed primarily in a military capacity, with the design also capable of acting in multi mission deployment for other functions in the civilian market, with goals of competing in the light utility export market once the aircraft is certified. The company aims to compete with the likes of the popular Leonardo Helicopters AW139, already widely used in the market.

Initially, the T-625 will be supplied engines by the Turkish Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company, which is a partnership backed by the experience of manufacturers Honeywell and Rolls Royce who have slated the company’s T800 engine as the powerplant for the helicopter. TAI has eventual plans to develop their own engine for the helicopter with local supplier TUSAS Engine Industries.

On January 5, 2017, National defence Minister Fikri Işık announced first flight of helicopter is planned at September 6, 2018.

Well this is sad, it seems Aselsan and FNSS has parted ways in their development of turrets. FNSS has opted to jointly develop with MOOG of Germany and Aselsan set to develop on their own it seems like..
