IDEAS 2018/New Fighter Induction

Ideally the JF-17 should have had the same size & capabilities as the F-16. The PAF was totally mesmerised by the Gripen they tested in the 90s. They decided to build a cheaper one for themselves without thinking it through.

It was the right scope to form the basis of a then non-existent aeronautical industry and deal with very limited engine options.

It had more to do with everything else than what you're suggesting. Scaling up doesn't impact the formation of an aviation industry.

Its a seminar, the speech/lectures are educational in nature sharing experience with others not disclosing future induction plans.

In the 2 last 15 minute section there availability and challenges areas which means there are going to talk about 2 different inductions. One will be JF-17 block 3 what will be the other?

Sir, complexity is not linear. A larger fighter brings with it more complex challenges, more stringent technical requirements. Even our mentors the Chinese took until J-10 Block C to iron out all issues.

If you have never in your entire life ever made an automobile, you are better off starting with a bicycle. Learn the ins and outs of supply chain, manufacturing, quality control, precision engineering in a more forgiving setting before moving on to the big stuff.

Even if this wasn't the thinking of the top brass at the time, it still makes perfect sense. We undertook the right amount of complexity for our capabilities at the time.

JF-17 Block 3 cant be the New fighter Aircraft getting inducted, JF-17 is not a new fighter, did they say the same about block 2 thunder.

I am expecting some thing new so finger crossed.

Better to take the evolutionary path!!!!

Knowing Pakistan as a whole ... I'd keep my expectations tame and assume it's stuff about the PAF explaining why it's difficult to induct new fighter aircraft and how the JF-17 is the solution (until Project Azm).
agreed
forget the hype and keep our feet on the ground

.
If I say some thing here , I will say ,,,,,, We will going to talk (hell lot of) about JF-17 especially unseen block-III , then we will tell people about project AZM (2030 or 35 if our own . 2025 if it is J-31)….
Then we will tell how good we are ,, how men are more important then machines , , And you all know other stuff …..
I am very sad to say this , but PAF disappointed me the most …… They never had numeric edge but now we lost tech edge for ever …….

top speed is useless in war, acceleration and agility that matter, most battles (air to air) are/were fought in subsonic to tran-sonic regime (0.85 to 1.5 Mach @BHarwana :p:;):enjoy:
Not in a ground strike mission where you have to hit a target in heavily contested air space and have to flee the area for chasing aircrafts ... There is a reason mirrages still have the strategic strike responsibility and there is no urgency in changing this role

you have basic don't have a basic knowledge about warfare, and give me one answer please how can you evade SAMs and AAM (BVR) launch at you with speed of MACH-4+ the only option to defend your jet is EW ECM, RWR etc etc not top speed @BHarwana :hitwall::crazy:

You have too much false ego to understand other members sane and logical arguments, and insist your baseless crap always @BHarwana :blah::blah::blah:
The idea is to get into a danger zone quickly and exit it even before the enemy could react completely ... Normally you have escort aircraft to run the air battle and the striking aircraft prefer to go back as it is low on fuel and low on air to air ammunition ...

I don't think think that JF17 had to be F16 of Pakistan ... F16 is the front line fighter of Pakistan and Thunder was always though out to be second line fighter to replace F7s and mirrages but with much more advanced features which thunder did remarkably well ...

Our issue is, we are unable to get more F16 or even unable to get them upgraded ... We did a blunder by trusting US with block 52 and now we are stuck with them with bleak prospects of further machines and upgrades ... Otherwise getting V upgrades and purchasing more of F16 is the way to go and we are capable to handle even Rafael ...

We actually need a replacement of F16 or stop-gap for the time period when actual replacement of F16 i.e. 5th generation fighter will be inducted

No brother, I think the time JF17 was being conceived we were actually planning to replace Mirrages and F7s, F16 was new back then, and is still a much capable platform if we could upgrade it and can get them upto desired qunaitiy of 110 fighters ...

Issue is we are stuck with no progress on vipers since last 5 years and we do not have Plan B
