IAF unattractive for indian pilots

.
Oh! I thought we were talking about IAF officers leaving enmasse. :flame:

Life is more precious than the money.

yes live to kill.....

Its better to choose life then to be somewhere you loose your life also and dont get paid also.

. .
Its is common that when you get superseded you retire and the Air force lets you go. I don't know the retirement structure of IAF but when a PAF officer retires he get another job within the force or another department running by that force and there benefits/incomes are way more than what they were getting when they were in Uniform.

Sir can you enlighten whether these figures of salaries are just right, or more then expected for pilots for the air force or less then they should be.

Nothing is not valuable then life though but as far as salary structures are concerned are these figures legitimate?

I am not defense person.

.
Na yar the figures are totally wrong, Its way below that. Let me get call a IAF friend and get the figures.

. .
funny artilce who wants a pay.....when thou flies a SU30MKI....:)

well, most IAF pilots dont a get a chance to to fly SU30MKI, there are only 100 of them.Anyway, its never a fighter pilot's problem to begin with.

The problem lies with pilots of a different hue, namey the transport aircraft and chopper pilots of IAF.

The pilots get excellent offers from private sector commercial airlines who are just too happy to induct highly skilled IAF pilots and indian commercial airlines growing very fast creating a large demand for skilled pilots. Interesting also these IAF pilots traditionally dont get more carrier advancement opportunities compare to their Fighter pilots in the IAF.

. . .
if the goal was only to earn money, then those pilots shouldnt have joined the services to begin with!you cant just walk out after IAF has spent a huge sum of money and time to train you as one of the best!you cant expect IAF to pay salaries like commercial airlines do.finish your term and then get retired and look for other jobs...but not before that.:frown:

Now where in the report does it mention ‘Fighter Pilots’? Do you guys know how many transport aircrafts and helis we operate? 100 is such a miniscule number compared to the total number of pilots in IAF. Moreover we are not talking of pilots leaving in 2-3 years. One can apply for voluntary retirement only after having served for 20-25 yrs atleast. After 20-25 years a pilot is in his early or mid 50s and well past his prime. This is the perfect age to join a private airliner to make a few bucks. With all the experience such pilots bring, the airlines just gobble them. Even the report mentions the same-

When one does not get promotions after 24-25 years of service one wants to leave and try alternative avenues.

btw the emolument figures are correct!

One more question:

Are our Pilots paid fair enough in comparison to pilots from other countries... Keeping in account that US pilots will get more but the cost of living in US is also higher.

Indian pilots are paid handsomely! In absolute terms-not as much as the USAF pilots, but enough to lead a very comfortable life in India! I think you yourself made the observation about the emoluments being high. They get a lot of additional perks also. Let Muradk confirm from his friends about the emoluments of the IAF, then he will tell you just how much better the IAF’s pay scales are compared to the PAF’s.

.
This is just an affect of the booming private aviation industry in india.

Almost every private player wants to go international now in india.

Just observe the pilots in the launges in the airports in india, there is a very huge percentage of foreign pilots who are hired at high salaries due to shortage of pilots.
