Why all these rants? MiG 21 Bisons are really potent platforms with fairly good safety records. They really kicked As$ in various excercises,especially during the Red Flag were it won praises for its superb performance against F 16s and F 15s.
Infact,I would love to see the MiG 21 Bisons stay with us,but without no doubt,all other variants has to go ASAP.

Because Rafales are MRCAs, fitting into a different force structure. One is a light aircraft, the other is medium.

Why did we have mig-21s and mirages? Why did we have mirages and MKIs? Why will we keep producing MKIs and Rafales and LCAs together? Because they perform different roles for the air force, belong to different categories, and fit differently into the balance of the IAF.

3 mirage 2000 x 51
3 mig29 x 60
6 jaguar x 120
That leaves around 11 or 12 sqns of mig21/27 and 200 plus planes

Rafales are obviously more advanced platforms than the Bisons.
