IAF jittery as faulty design grounds HAL jet trainer

No, it didn't. The agency to develop Tejas was itself only founded in the 80s. It was in 1983 that the govt gave the go ahead for developing a fighter. It was in '84 that the ADA was set up. It was in 1986 that funds were first allocated. It was in 1990 that an agreement was arrived at the design (delta wing fighter). It was in 1993 that full scale development work started. First flight was in 2001.

You have explained to them nth time!!

Yes i agree YAK 130 is indeed a great jet trainer(one of/if not the best out there). India should go for it.

Are you trolling ?

India is already making 143 BAE Hawk132.

YAK 130 is better then BAE Hawk132......... Russian are late if they started production before 2002-03 then India will surely go for this beauty

What would you call the inbetween time from 1983 to 1993? You do understand I appreciate your effort to highlight the life cycle of saying yes to a project.

I don't think that the the time period has a name. But the fact is that development work started only in 1993. Funds for development were also disbursed only that year. (Some funds were disbursed earlier for setting up the agency etc.)

Between '87 and '90, the IAF and ADA were trying to decide what kind of a design they should go for, what characterestics the aircraft should have and so on.

Just because the GoI agreed that the county should make a fighter, doesn't mean that work on the fighter began at that moment. To give another example, the govt has decided that a dedicated freight corridor needs to be made for rail transport - but work on that has not yet begun.

Now time to see future not past..... I think India have done hard work for develop 4rt generation Aircarft. Before India was not having any such kind of experience.

Tejas will join in 2015 then more advance Tejas-2 and better fighter will come....

So, I don't have any problem with that.... I think now we have already started building frigate,Destroyer and other Ships.... Tank... Now Aircarfts...... So in future India will have our babies........................ So my Side no problem..

Just take Example... Pakistan still not able to Make Ships and plane.......I don't know Pakistan have or not good sector for R&D, testing and Design for these ships and fighter planes...if not then they have to 1st establish infrastructure....

India have done and now time for result..

I kinda like the design of Sitara. Its cute

Definitely agree with most of it but it all comes down to 10 years of deciding to make an aircraft and getting money for it. You should definitely not defend that. The most extreme problem as I have said a very long time before and keep saying it is exactly this problem here. Its not just the LCA that is plagued with this. Field guns, tanks and many more. Its actually the only thing that has kept my country still in the fight.

HAL needs a major overhaul. Really, in 55 years, they can deliver only such things?

YAK-130s were certified only after we had acquired Hawks. It was too late.

Now we should focus on getting the IJT-36 out as fast as possible.

Pakistan does not have money. It has a weakening economy. It does what it can and it does it rather well. It does it by hardcore efficiency. It just can not afford to leak time and money. We get that by scraping R&D and going to creating things we need with help from friends obviously. Its the bird in hand policy that has kept us alive on the military front. In a war it helps a lot because ideas can not be used to kill people.

I'm not defending what happened, I'm only stating that it happened. I wish that work had started by '85, and that between '83 and '85 they had come to an agreement on what to make, and constituted a body for that. But that did not happen, it took ten years before work started, after clearance was given.
