What's new

IAF is still flying 44-year-old MiG-21 nobody driving cars of that vintage: Indian air chief

A skirmish with limited rules of engagement can't be a good judge of an equipment. In the February 26-28, there was lot of restrictions in rules and hence the combat was very close range one without much engagement from ground SAM or other strategic equipment.

Indian Mig21 shot down F16 because the range was too close and the R73 missile could lock on its IIR seeker. This is also why there was surprise that an interior Mig21 which is considered as junk, shot down F16.

So, Air chief is correct in saying that Mig21 is too old. The shooting down of F16 is just an aberration and doesn't show that Mig21 is better than F16. Under total war Condition, the situation would have been different.

wait what!!! Mig 21 meaning nandu shot down f16......

of which you have no proof whatsoever (please share a non indian source) ....... all missiles of nandu were found intact ,, so did he spit on the f16 to shoot it down????
Even the americans have confirmed all f16 are accounted for.....

Ok!!! then can you confirm which f16 was it?? (f16 A/B/C/D) as it is very hard to hide a loss of an f16 as they are only 76

The whole world has debunked Indian claims. We had experts from many nations ridiculing Indian claims.

India stands all alone in its BS theories because the world has moved on.

Now we are focused on Kashmir and we are going to make Modi bleed like a pig. No amount of Rafale fighters can save Modi.

No F-16 was shot down dear boy. Stop this nonsense

This bullshit dhanoa is next level, who made him the chief. Excuses excuses and more excuses. He is hiding his incompetency behind so called vintage fighter aircrafts, how about su30 the so called raptor of the east, the mig 29s the mirages. Thanks to Almighty we don’t need to face a competent airforce. Our boys will in shah Allah eat them alive.

There were no limited rules of engagement that much is clear from your closure of surrounding Indian air space. You knew a retaliatory strike was to take place and the only rules would've been to stop that from happening at all costs, the only reason the combat was close was because our action took place when your AEWACS were rotating. Neither of our air forces are some mediocore Middle Eastern ones so obviously any operation taking place will involve a lot of support equipment (AEWACS/ EW platforms/ Tankers etc.). As for the SAM's not being used, ask your Mi-17. No point in telling you guys the MiG-21 didn't score any kills because your entire nation is in denial and it most certainly did not happen at close range because BOTH R-73's were found almost completely intact. Under total war conditions your MiG's will be pulled as quickly out of service as your Ouragans and Vampires were in '65.
