In a bid to achieve self-sufficiency in the energy sector, the provincial government is in the process of establishing a refinery in Kohat.
The refinery, which will have a capacity to process 200,000 barrels oil per day (bpd), would cost around Rs35 billion. “The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Oil and Gas Company Limited and a Russian consortium of investors have recently reached an agreement to set- up the refinery,” official sources told APP.
As per the agreement, the company would set- up the facility in Kohat district while the provincial government will have a 10 per cent share in it once it starts operations.
