I never watched NDTV and Times now so often as I do from the US. I am excited to hear about what Modi is doing next. And he is almost emulating same stances like the US on, free markets, economic outlook, smart infrastructure, transparency to the extent one ca.
This method of accountability for his cabinet and " goal oriented " style of having a 100 day achievement list is so refreshing.
I'm eager to see what he does on foreign policy and on subsidies. Two points that need drastic changes...
Finally the big one- the spending on big government and its institutions.
My perfect wish list for india would be:
1. Free and open markets, FDI allowed in everything. Let them people come and invest in india. Let foreign companies move from China to India . They know it is more conducive to business ( they rather take a democracy over communist rule)
2. Govt subsidies for certain " global" industries to help them gain market share
3. Getting Japanese corridor cranking
4. Complete privatizations of all industries. govt should not be in the business of running any industry ( telephones, airlines, etc)
5. Smart cities idea coming to fruition. people need to stop flocking to capital cities
6. Eradication of slums- I have no clue how to do it ( best ideas). but India needs it
7. Improved sanitation
8. High fuel standards for transportation ( cars , bikes etc). they need to reduce dependence on oil
9. Oil and gas exploration
10 . nuclear, wind, solar and other green initiatives
11. doubling of electricity outputs in 7 years
12. Remove all affirmative action, no more quotas for anyone. But put in place strong anti discrimination employment and hiring laws.
13. revamping the TAX system
And I can go and on... but he( modi) seems to be on the same page. I just wish a long long life ...but then would also like to see term limits for every elected office too.
Anyways, just so excited for India... and I hope for a very strong US- India relationship
