Its just corruption of word Pakhtun/Pashtun, the word was coined by Indians and is used by Hindi people (including Musalman) of Indo-Pak....there is no evidence which suggests that Pathan means daughter-stealer, its not recorded any where. Another Indianized term for Pashtun is Rohilla. We indeed call ourselves پښتون , but you are dead wrong in saying that we are not Afghans........Afghan is just another name for Pashtun, and the ones in Afghanistan have imposed their Afghan identity on conquered Turkic and Tajik people who have historically and ethnically nothing to do with word Afghan. If it was not a native term then our medieval poets and historians would not have called themselves 'Afghan'.......
You just criticized the Indian guy for usage of word Pathan and then you are recommending him a book by name of "The Pathans" ? ........
About TTP and Daesh wings of Pakistan, lets be honest they are indeed mostly from FATA and KP, not Afghanistan.......thats why the racial profiling of Pashtuns in Punjab by the government (which i believe must have taken such step after signal from the Fauj)......but just like stereotyping all Muslims to be terrorists is wrong , so is suspecting all Pashtuns to be potential terrorists........and lets be more honest, the Jihadism and Talibanization in FATA was spread and promoted by ISI/military in 80s as well as 90s....which backlashed when when Army ditched Afghan Taliban and then subsequently did operations in tribal areas......resulting civilian deaths and revenge.......led to the creation of Pakistani Taliban whose members were already indoctrinated to be Jihadists by ISI for Afghanistan and Kashmir Jihad, through Deobandi Mullahs. Now Tribals, once the heroes of Afghan Jihad of 80s, Kashmir Jihad and Taliban movement of 90s, are portrayed as villains and scapegoats along with Afghans......the main culprit of this whole mess , is the same organization to whom this whole site is dedicated, they are not taking responsibility for their past actions....When you point a finger at us, three fingers are pointing back to you.
