I Moved to China to Pay Off $50,000 Worth of Debt and it Was One of the Best Decisions I’ve Ever Mad

The only reason that is a good deal for them is because they don't have the qualifications to be a teacher here. My brother's wife teaches kindergarten and makes over $60,000. Kindergarten!!!! Little kids!!! $60K!!!!! Summers off...geez!!
That's kind of true, those people don't have any certificates or education backgrounds, but the market is so big and training centers are on every street, so they don't matter, teachers with good certificates don't make them good teachers anyway.

You see, even yourself don't believe it. We are talking about the average here. Lot of associate professors don't make that much.

Most good teachers in Beijing never go after a full time job, they work part time for several training centers and private one on one tutoring, so that they can make way more money , two or three times or more money than committing to just one school.

. . .
.
99% of foreign teachers don't work in Chinese schools, they work in language training centers which everyone can start one in China in one day, just rent a place and find some teachers and it's done.

.
But they need degrees and there are not so many offers as they can find in China.

LOL! I'm not going to argue with you on that. So, yes, somebody who is only qualified to be flipping burgers in the US could fly to China and teach English for more money.

I have a friend owning a training center teaching kds chess, he makes millions and I even doubt if he had a business license, training centers are huge huge business in China, people throw their money in all kinds of trainings and many of those training you might have never heard of.

Maybe, the point is there is more money there, so the guy in the video can pay off his debt while his homeboy may not able to save $1000 for emergency.

It's true, and for language learning, very often they can be better teachers than professionals, do you know a foreign language? if you do, you should know how it works.

The point is how much they can actually save after all expense. I bet the guy making $3500 per month in Beijing will save more than the kindergarten teacher making $6,000 here.

Certainly if their apartment expense was fully covered they could come out ahead. But on the other hand my brother's wife (when she was single) lived at home so her expenses were minimal.

Those guys definitely consider China as the better choice than US for them, hence the videos. The bigger picture is Chinese average income is moving up consistently, while in the US, it has been stagnated for many years. So Chinese have more positive outlook than Americans. That's the point.

Besides, it's better travelling out of country to see the world when they still young, than working for the same company for the rest of their life. I just kicked one of my boys to Spain for an exchange program.

He was shocked to see "crazy number of people" there are using Huawei phones, and everyone knows US can't win on 5G, so it is giving Huawei all kind of hard time.

There's a big jump in salary this year for foreign teachers, and this guy doesn't work in first tier cities where pay is much higher, of course they also come with higher cost of living, so it might be good for him to choose to work in small cities after factoring in both income and cost of living.

Those guys retirement can be more than 30 years away, by then they can comfortably retired in China, just check out how fast Chinese salary jumped in just couples of years.

I see teaching English in China to be a fulfilling experience for some people. teaching is never meant to be a gateway to riches
