What's new

I hate my girlfriend, because i love my car.

and let it be known:

it isnt my policy to do these kinds of speeds on public roads........those video demos were demos ONLY.

keep it at the track....wear safety equipment, and obey the laws. Don't become "statistic"

What a beast.

I would buy one if they sold these in Australia. American cars are so expensive here. I really wanted to buy a 2010 Dodge Challenger(just for looks). But they were asking close to A$140,000($130,000) for it. The price difference put me off, I mean they sell for like $40,000 in America. Not fair :argh:

2011-Dodge-Challenger-V6-Facelift-view.jpg

I mean......you could go for a Holden Commodore SS; throw on the usual I/H/E (intake/headers/exhaust) + misc bolt ons, a supercharger and some drag radials

if you gave me $7,000 I could build you a 1987 "fox body" (as they call them here) Ford Mustang 5.0 that would obliterate 99.99999999% of the cars on the road. All you need to do is throw on a supercharger @ 17 to 20 psi. with 8.5:1 compression

the blocks on those cars are so f*cking strong.....i've seen crazy lead-footers run 250 horsepower shot of Zex nitrous and nothing even broke. Stock axles too!

when you get into tuning cars, shyte is ALWAYS gonna break....guaranteed. You have to be prepared for it. But those foxbodys are tough man.....you invest 3 grand in that bucket of bolts, you will run a 10 second quarter mile (400 meters run)

you gotta invest 7-8 grand in a Honda/Acura just to make it run consistent 12s.......that isn't spare change for buggers like myself :)

Hey Abou,

Man what happened to your face man----did you put too much grease on it or what---. I mean to say---we have already seen your pretty picture on this forum---.

Abou---these new audi customers are least concerned about electrical problems or airflow meters---they are looking for performance and HANDLING---. Handling----not in a straight run---but curvy winding roads----that is what these drivers are looking for----. Pluys with the current warranties and extended warranties---they don't have to worry---.

Vcheng,

I am sorry-----I am pretty sure you had heard the joke about the vette----" You know what is the difference between a corvette and a porcupine":cheesy:

easy partner.....easyyyy.....

alto/mehran/khyber type cars are porcupines.....they are slow and an eyesore.

Vette is basically a blond American babe from Alabama with huge tits and a nice rear end......there's nothing exotic about it; it's crude, it's raw, unsophisticated yet addictive and pleasurable.

it's a far stretch from a car like a new BMW ///M5 (the new V-10 walas). That is a stuck up European brunette garbed top to bottom in Burberry and PRada. Everything from lips to hairs to legs....It's exotic, its refined, it's more predictable, and it never fails to drop jaws...

You are some years senior to me; so i hope you're not offended by my at-times "unorthodox" ways of shedding light on something

well that's true......Audi is not AS susceptible to electronic problems the way those Britisher cars are; and the way old German cars (like mine) are......in my case, a short here or a short there --no problem. The only electronic equipment i really have is the stereo system --the one that gets me pulled over for occasional noise violations :P

because the car industry even today is getting its arse kicked --dealers feel compelled to offer new deals....financing of course, but also improved after-sales support. BMW and Audi have pretty good warrantees and service agreements.......these problems i mentioned dont really become pronounced or evident until about 50 to 60 thousand miles.

last week i saw ANOTHER Audi -- with the 1.8T...driven by some young moron with more gel in his hair than grease on my garage floor. They are having longitudinally mounted motors, he had a spun bearing.

I wont blame the manufacturer though. This RETARD drove the engine hard despite getting oil pressure warning; by the time he brought it for me and some buddies to look at it the motor was knocking like crazy. He had something like close to 70,000 mile on it.

by my standard, 70,000 is NOTHING. . .

Holden Commodores are way too common here in Australia. Its like Maruti Suzuki of India. I wanted the dodge just for the looks, not so much for the performance.

But yes the HSV Commodores and the Ford Falcons we have here are monsters.

So i see you guys have been discussing V-8s. If the topic is drifted to reliability and cost to performance ratio HSVs are just big machines which drink alot of fuel.

I haven't had one myself , but a good friend from Pakistan had a 6.5Lt V-8 HSV - i used to drive it around and actually hated it because of some obvious reasons. Weight balancing , rear wheel drive - good for doing burnouts not so much for getting real performance out of it.

i never drove one; but if it's anything like the Impala SS or Pontiac GTO (i believe they use somewhat similar chassis) then its a lot of weight and a lot of torque....its basically a clumsy boat which was designed for purely straight-line performance

but then again, that's like most American cars....except maybe the GT40. Even a Corvette isn't the best handler, though they are improving a lot. Quite a lot actually in the case of the Vettes.....when all else fails around corner, just gun it and drift into the corner and hope to God you dont spin out :smokin:

at least these cars are coming with sport modes to stiffen springs; they have traction control and active dynamic stability controll......(except the Dodge Vipers which have no tr. control, no ABS, nothing....barely street legal)

Ummm - such a meanie. Yes, we all know you have change and more, no need to rub that in. Most of us here are still students - we'll get there alright.

LOL!

You perceived that wrong Elmo.

My comment was referring to the satisfaction of working on cars by one's own hands, just like Abu was doing, NOT to show off. (If you notice, my car is on ramps too, and I have a whole series of photos to prove I was working on it, if you need to see them.)

I could get angry at you in return, but I suppose your apology will be forthcoming. :D

she's lookin good. I dont know what the laws are in NYC about front tags display (here they are strict). If i were you i'd junk the front plate.

powder coat those wheels; black em out; throw on a Bullit exhaust, that's what I did. But as is, it's still a sweet ride. I've always loved American muscle. There's no replacement for displacement.
.......................

The stock plate holder is an eyesore, that is why I have mounted the front plate ghetto-style. :D

The rest of the mods you mention may yet happen in due course.

Vcheng,

I am sorry-----I am pretty sure you had heard the joke about the vette----" You know what is the difference between a corvette and a porcupine":cheesy:

No Sir, I have heard the joke about Porsches and Porcupines!

That is true. I have driven FPVs and find it impossible to drive without the wheels spinning. Thank god for the launch control.

That looks awesome!

@ Cheng -- is the license plate mount a screw in mounting bracket or is it attached to the bumper via adhesive? My guess is it's an adhesive bracket.

remove the plate; use a hair drier or a heat gain --hold it about 2 feet away. Should just peel off gradually; then use a soft rag and some soap water to remove the sticky residues. Just display the plate on your front dashboard or something.

@ Pak Nationalist --- I was jsut making an example. I never actually did the project; though i know people who have.

the old foxbody Mustangs are the cheapest cars to make hell fast......if you want a track car. But it'll get probably 9 miles to the gallon (on race gas)

Good idea.

We need to plan a meet before the weather turns bad up here. :D
