I am going to perform Hajj

God Bless you on your endeavour---but if it was me---I would rather give that money to a poor family and help them establish a business---and the next time I have that money for hajj---I would do it over and over and over---.

Well off pakistanis don't deserve to spend money on hajj----when their poorest are living in misery----you can perform hajj a thousand times over by making their lives better.

Can some one find out---how much do pakistanis spend / waste on hajj each year that could have been better used to establish the welfare of the poverty stricken poor of the country---.

A reasonable thought that has cross my mind many times but I do see a problem with it. You see hajj once in your life time is essential/farz for a financially stable Muslim.

Reason that why spend money on Hajj when it can be used to help out the poor then needs be applied to every social aspect of our lives. With that reason, any money you spend on your personal luxuries and pleasures need to also be diverted to the poor and the needy. You don't need a car, a big house, expensive clothes to live a decent life. You have to become totally selfless.

But unfortunately we apply double standards. Money spent on holy pilgrimage once in your life is a waste ( I didn't like that word) but money we spend and waste everyday on useless things we don't need is necessary.

@Muharib, You have taken it the wrong way, he is not offended by it (actually its quite silly of you to think like that), he is going on a journey of his life, so he asked for forgiveness, as it maybe his last, or if Allah may not accept his efforts because of another human (Haqooq ul Ibad). Dude spending money on hajj is not waste of money and Zakat which is one of the five pillar of Islam is for this purpose to spend some portion of your wealth for the poor and needy member's of the society

Yes you are right.To spend money on luxuries and on latest technologies when there are millions who cannot feed themselves is not waste of money but when someone is spending his wealth to visit the house of Allah purely for hereafter we call this as waste of money

Perhaps, you mean well but Hajj is mandatory(farz) if you can afford it. Please do not say, it's a "Waste of money" because this may hurt people sentiment.

I would have been happy if you rather talk about Zakat. If you collect all the Zakat, utilize it properly, then there would not be any poor left in Pakistan. However, it has been ignored for unknown reason.

Live and learn my man---live and learn----the money that we spend on our self---luxury etc is for our sanity----and then we save seperately for that higher cause to go perform the hajj-------we know that it is one of the ultimate things---the pillars----for your salvation in the world here after---and then you sacrifice this moment of salvation and ask the almighty for His forgiveness---and sacrifice this saving and pilgrimmage for the welbeing of a poor family---.

Remember the Lord is merciful----see----some of us will do it this way---and most of you will do it that way----. I fear that my sins committed after hajj will multiply at a higher rate than they are before performing hajj---because I sin----that is one reason---" the knowledgable will be held to a higher standard "---------. Can you live with the sins committed after hajj---can you face your Lord even though you knowingly committ them after hajj without any prejudice---.

When you neighbour is hungry---when his children have not eaten---when they had not had a meal that could fill their stomachs in ages----that person does not deserve to perform hajj---. If you can decide to go perform hajj---even though you can hear their cries of pain and anguish----you are not bound to perform hajj.

Remember the hajj is perfpormed from the savings---the extra money that you have---saved for that purpose---shine some light in someone's life---give someone hope and joy and livelihood---remember your moments of despair---remember your moments ofhappiness----n.

How many pakistanis perform hajj each year---50000-----can you imagine---they can help 50000 families start up new businesses and endeavours each year----.

On a 5 year plan----there will be 250000 new businesses created----and each of these business will create other jobs.

Pakistan needs a new slogan---come perform hajj every year----donate in the name of your hajj spendings.
