Hyuga Carrier Strike Group --- on the Hunt !

Just a reminder bro, CV16 Liaoning is not a combatant (战舰), it is officially classified as a training ship (训练舰), intended to allow the Navy to practice with carrier usage.

So back to topic, with Hyuga and Izumo class in operation, JMSDF is only second to USN in Asia (even worldwide after quality of personnel/equipments taken into account, before 2 new CV get inducted in Royal Navy) in terms of naval aviation capability (excluding land based; 舰载航空兵) especially when 5th gen STVOL aircrafts in the current/forseeable picture.

In practical view, China still hasn't got 1 aircraft carrier as India. Varyag/Liaoning wasn't ever a true aircraft carrier, even in its long history.
The similar aircraft carriers serving in Russia and India, shouldn't consider as true aircraft carriers but heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser as original design.
While designated an aircraft carrier by the United States, the design of the Kuznetsov class implies a mission different from that of American carriers. The term used by her builders to describe the Russian ships is tyazholiy avianesushchiy kreyser(TAKR or TAVKR) - “heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser” - intended to support and defend strategic missile-carrying submarines, surface ships, and maritime missile-carrying aircraft of the Russian fleet.

Let's wait for some time.

Those have ever been true aircraft carriers. Now give out for free to scrap

@Nihonjin1051 - you'd know more about the Japanese military traditions than I would, any others or additional insight to offer?

The uniforms that our sailors , officers use in the JMSDF are tailored to resemble that of those in the Imperial Navy.

Uniforms of the Imperial Navy, during Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905

As for the Anthem. The Anthem of the JMSDF is the Battleship March, or Latinized as "Gunkan March".

It is the same Anthem of the Imperial Japanese Navy, the Nihon Kaigun. :)
