Border surveillance drones?

Pakistan has very long borders with difficult terrains,specially the western border with Afghanistan (Thats where all the trouble comes from)
A manned post cannot be maintained all over the border..
Is it possible to manufacture purpose built drones with high resolution cameras,probably solar powered to maintain a real time monitoring of the borders?
