Huge oil, gas reserves found in Balochistan

Every other day Pakistan found big reserves but never bother to dig it out for the benefit of the nation.

You are right. we have exploited very few of all the found reserve thus far.
Our politicians and their private consultants are on pay roles of foreign agencies.
I see no ray of light, unless we get rid of democracy.
I read this news couple of days, but it did not attracted me.
Actually during democracy (Asif Ali Zardari), mysteriously our main reserves start to fall.

its not lack of resources but lack of loyalty .
ever heard of rikodiq?

Ever heard of Asif Ali Zardari and his mysterious voters!

These reserves might be huge, so are the ones found in FATA, although the problem is whether or not there's a large enough uniformed resource which justifies the investment in drilling it. If the gas and oil lodges in hundreds of pockets, it can't be financially viable despite its overall size.

if enough oil is there than frackling can help in future, but with current oil prices its not financially viable even for oil let alone gas (which is also the main reason why gulf states are keeping oil prices to this level)

Pakistan has been always rich enough with such resources but the irony was, most greedy and corrupt pedigree has been giving such resources on contract to the many foreign companies against a huge chunk of kickbacks for personal accounts than to the National Treasury. Indeed, such discovery is a huge leap towards future self reliance in energy sector that hopefully wouldn't end like it has been happened in past.

Political corrupt elites have been assigning contracts for such mining and diggings on very low price merely for personal gains that the Nation never benefited hence it is the need of hour that projects must be kept under strict scrutiny and Check so the nation's demand can be fulfilled.

According to its geological position, Pakistan is always termed as "Golden Sparrow" for the people and groups who keep an eye of wisdom and recognition. No wonder, it is naturally equipped with such kind of fossil fuels and many natural resources other than basics. The only need of this nation is a leader with a transparent vision and commitment. I wish these resources could reap us a good future, although, rate of "hopes" is quite critical.

OGDCL, PPL, SNGPL, SSGC should install LNG plants and convert this natural resource into Liquid Natural Gas and then sale it to the general masses through cylinders. LNG is better than LPG. Pakistani distribution companies SNGPL & SSGC are facing severe line losses (UFG) through pipelines in every street of country. These 50 years old pipelines needs billions of dollars for maintenance and control of losses. An easy solution is to provide this gas through cylinders.

Pakistani government can invest few billion dollars to install LNG plants. It will save yearly almost 30 billion Rs which only SNGPL is bearing in terms of UFG. Make LNG cylinders and sell them to end customers. This process will create a larger market and hundreds of thousands of new jobs because currently the distribution departments of SNGPL & SSGC are doing this through their hired pakky & kachay employees. "Gas Chori" will also be ended in the result. Pipelines should be used to serve large industries only which can be managed by SNGPL & SSGC's Transmission departments.

For small industries, a new company can be formed which will sell the gas to small industries. Gas Pipelines are a menace after 50 years. Save this natural resource for our next generations.

True and even if dug out they won't benefit Pakistani nation under the current system.
A similar example is Nigeria.
You are damn right.
Situation in Pakistan is even worst, due to gas offer from Iran.
During the rule of Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan's gas reserve took nose dive. While, no one in Pakistan wants to know, WHY! .... becuase he was creating conditions, where Pakistanis would be forced to fill coffers in Qum blindly, in the name of holy gas.

QUETTA: A huge reserve of oil and gas has been found in Jandran area of Marri Agency of Balochistan.

These gas reserves are said to be much bigger than gas found in Sui Dera Bugti in early1950.

Well placed sources confirmed that gas reserve found in Jandran region is much bigger than gas found in Sui Gas reserves from Sui first and followed by two other big reserves at Pir Koh and Loti field.

Sui gas was main cause of industrial revolution in Pakistan mainly in Karachi and Central Punjab where gas replaced oil as an energy substitute.

The fourth gas reserve was also found in Bugti tribal territory in Uch Mountains and the gas is being used by a private concern producing electricity at the two Uch Power Plants near Dera Murad Jamali in Naseerabad.

The electricity produced at Uch Power Plant is sold to WAPDA and transmitted to National Grid in nearby province of Sindh and mainly its upper region.

QUETTA: A huge reserve of gas and oil was found in the Jandran region of Marri Tribal Territory of Balochistan. The Jandran gas reserves are said to be much bigger than the gas found in Sui in Bugti area in early 1950s.

Highly credible sources confirmed it to the media persons saying that the gas reserve found in Jandran region is much bigger than the gas found at Sui Gas Field in the Bugti Tribal Territory in early 1950s.

Gas reserves from Sui first and followed by two other big reserves at Pir Koh and Loti fed the whole country and met its energy requirements for more than six decades.

Sui gas was the main cause of industrial revolution in Pakistan, mainly in Karachi and the Central Punjab where gas replaced oil as an energy substitute.

The fourth gas reserves was also found in the Bugti Tribal Territory in Uch Mountains and the gas is being used by the private concern producing electricity in bulk at the two Uch Power Plants in Naseerabad.

The entire electricity produced at the Uch Power Plants are sold to WAPDA and transmitted to the National Grid in the nearby Province of Sindh and mainly its upper region.

In case of oil, it is premature to confirm the quantity of oil in the Jandran region which is located at the confluence of Marri and Khetran Tribal territories.

However, it is believed that it is substantial in quality meeting some demand of oil at the local level following completion of its exploration. According to unofficial reports, Pakistan is producing around 90,000 barrel of crude oil daily within the country while the remaining part is being imported from the friendly countries.

Earlier, there was also big news from the Zain Koh region also in Bugti Tribal Territory where a huge gas reserves had been found years back and the Government had yet to make it public officially.

However, scientists and particularly geologists had confirmed the discovery of huge gas reserves in Zain Koh to this Balochistan Express long ago.

If the information received is verified officially by the Government of Balochistan, then the Government of Pakistan will not be under obligation to buy natural gas from Iran or finalize the deal.

In such a case, Pakistan will not only be self sufficient in production of gas need no imports, particularly Iran or Turkmenistan through TAPI. However, the Government can allow the Iran and Turkmenistan to export the gas to India only with the consent of the Government of Pakistan.

There are very high hopes in the relevant circles that Jandran oil field will also be promising meeting the substantial needs of the country or substantially reducing the oil import bill.

Jandran was the region where the Baloch militants offered tough resistance to the Government efforts to explore and exploit the energy resources on the plea that the Government failed to pay a right price of Sui Gas to the Baloch people.

However, the highly credible security sources at the top were found firm in exploring and exploiting the gas reserves without any substantial resistance from the Baloch militants.

There was a clear message to the people of Balochistan that the Baloch resistance had been squarely broken and it is incapable to offer any resistance to Jandran oil and gas reserves.

It is up to the soft government of Balochistan to make all the necessary arrangements to exploit the precious source of energy for the energy-starved Pakistan.

I find this news a bit suspicious. There are no volumetric estimates given... except for "huge" .

No oil and gas exploration company defines their finds as "huge" . It is usually accompanied by actual estimates of the find in bbls.

Does Not sound like credible news.

Pakistans problem has been finding large pockets

If it finds alot of gas/oil over a large area spread into small pockets then it requires alot of effort to obtain and ut might not be financially viable unless the price of oil goes up

no actually Pakistan's problem is not able to connect small pockets to national transmission due to lack of infrastructure in far off places. We never hear of huge gas discoveries here in North America but we get plenty of gas at rates far cheaper than international market. there are 100s of exploration companies finding small deposits, extract as much as they can, then close it and move to next.

An easy solution is to provide this gas through cylinders.
SNGPL is one of those institutions, where all appointments are allocated to those, who are closely related to political parties.
PPP as usual was hiring anti state elements, hence the Sui reserves took nose dive and Pakistan witnessed gas shortage.

This sound like BS and to good to be true

its not lack of resources but lack of loyalty .
ever heard of rikodiq?

Lets accept it that we are way behind in properly utilizing whats beneath our land. When I say about lack of resources then it means security issues, hurdles in dealing with Sardars, Maliks and Waderas who hold quite firm grip on their areas and U have to persuade them to let U work there. Ever heard of Akbar Bugti? I am sure U wud have but do U know why did he actually rebel? I am sure U dont know that. Last but not the least lets accept it that we havent kept along the modern world when it comes to extracting/mining/drilling things from below the earth. Due to lack of capacity and capability there are instances where almost 70% of the minerals are virtually destroyed. If we had capacity and capability then we wud forsure have drilled/extracted things out there rather than offering lucrative returns to foreign firms like MOL etc. Rather than going to Rekodiq plz first visit Saindak project. Do U know who is running the show there? Ofcourse not us. But the picture is not that much gloomy after all as local organisations are catching up and their capacity is being built fast. Not only that but also manpower is being trained in this field and many student have already been sent abroad for higher studies in this very field. For that matter Mining department in UET Peshawar and BUITEMS Balochistan are making quite strides in this very field.

Not surprise, but it is about time Pakistan is introduced with the modern technology of refinery. Glad those reserves wasn't uncovered earlier given the price that the entire middle east is paying just because they have oil.

My wish is that this time, the resources being excavated are first spent on Balochistan province and the reminder goes to other provinces, this will eliminate the grievances of the local populace
